The first time I had picked up a chartreuse Crayola crayon...not knowing what it was, I had felt the passion that only a fourth generation Artist would know. Later I had progressed to conte crayon and soon discovered the delight of painting with acrylics. Throughout my schooling, I lived in the art room and darkroom. Ah, the smell of developer was intoxicating! I had a teacher, mentor, and friend
- Bruce Adams—who helped to unleash what was growing inside. College opened my eyes to an array of different subjects and to the ultimate still life...Floyd. I had always enjoyed drawing the human form and Floyd helped me appreciate it even more. Through college I had possessed what some people would consider to be the gift, but I NEVER would say I was an Artist. After college, like most, I had to find a job. Every position I held I always found myself utilizing my art skill to complete projects for the corporate agenda: M&T Bank—cartoon Joe Banker, Tops Markets—painting store playhouses and murals for many co-workers and NOCO—Fillup T. Frog and Dino Marty. I had realized that I was a peacock in a penguin world until January 27, 2020; when I was released from the corporate shackles due to restructuring. I decided then it was God’s way of pushing me to take the plunge and live my life’s purpose to be the Artist I was born to be. So, I packed all that would fit in my F150 and moved to Southwest Florida from Buffalo, NY to live my dream of being an Artist. All my work contains a piece of me and how I see the subject and how it makes me feel. When I paint a scene, I like to take the viewer mentally there and to feel what it’s like to physically be there. My abstract work is a reflection of my life’s interpretation and journeys I’ve experienced. All my work is for sale, and I always welcome custom orders if you would like something in particular. Please contact me and I will be happy to paint for you! If you can see it, I can paint it!
All my best! Andi Baker
