You said, "We're just going to refresh the living room."
(I smiled. I know how this goes.)

First, the sofa.
Then the sofa needs a new rug.
The rug makes the lamps look old.
The new lamps show the art is not right.
Now the art looks odd next to the dining room.
Then you see the floor changes right where the rug stops.
And around week three: "Wait… now everything connects."

It does. (This is the part no one tells you.)

So why does a living room refresh turn into a whole-home project? Because your home works as one system. The color, light, size and materials in one room change how the next room looks and feels. When you decide one room at a time, each piece can be lovely and the whole home still feels a little off.

From the outside, it looks like a simple update. On the inside, it feels like handling a dozen choices, stores and samples by yourself, and hoping it all matches at the end.

That is not bad planning. It is what happens when no one shows you the whole picture first.

This is why full-service design is not decorating. I plan the whole home first. Then I choose the furniture, lighting, finishes and healthier, lower-toxicity materials in the right order, and I coordinate the details. You do not have to be the project manager. You just get a home that feels like one story.

What started as "just one room" in your home? Tell me below, I'd love to hear it.

If your refresh is quietly becoming something bigger, send me a message or book a design consultation, and let's start with clarity.

You love the idea of green in your home, but you're not sure which color should sit beside it. 🌿

Sherwin-Williams Celery (SW 6421) comes with its own Curated Harmony pairings, and I'm sharing a few of them here so you can see how different the same green can feel.

Here's what I tell my clients though. A color of the year only feels right when it's paired well. Celery can look airy, cozy, or slightly off depending on what sits next to it and how your light moves through the room.

Does any of these Celery pairings make your heart skip a beat? Or maybe you have another color in mind and you'd like a professional eye to tell you "yes, that would be perfect"?

She almost didn't call us.

If you run everything well, handing over your home can feel like the one job you should keep. (I'd feel the same.)

But a whole-home project isn't one big decision. It's hundreds of small ones that all have to agree with each other. A designer's job is to hold that whole picture, so you don't have to hold it alone. That's what full-service interior design is for, with healthier, lower-toxicity materials chosen for the rooms where you rest.

Which is harder for you right now: keeping up with all the decisions, or trusting someone with your vision? Tell me below.

If your home needs direction, not more guesswork, send me a message or book your consultation. Link is in my bio.

A family portrait from 1976 is getting a second life. 🐾

I'm working with my talented friend Milagros Melendez, a restoration and vintage poster artist, to bring this photo back for one of my clients. Those five dogs were their children, and they are all rescues.

The best homes hold pieces like this. Not matching sets, but the things that tell your story.

I can't wait to deliver it in a couple of weeks and see his reaction.

Have a family photo or heirloom you'd love to display but don't know where to start? Maybe it needs restoring, or you're not sure which wall suits it best. Message me, or book a 15-minute fit call, and we'll figure it out together. (Link is in my bio)

Sherwin Williams just named Celery the 2027 Color of the Year 🌿

They call it an airy, herbal green that brings a fresh perspective to a space. I see a soft green with a little warm yellow in it, so it can look crisp in one room and cozy in the next, depending on your light.

I'd use it in bedrooms, home offices, and kitchens, anywhere you want a room to feel calm and awake at the same time. Watch to the end to see where it works best.

Do you love this color? Tell me which room you'd try it in.

And if this is not your color, I can help you find another. I'm also a color consultant, so I'll look at your light, your home, and how you want it to feel. Message or book your consultation with me and we'll start there.

The design mistake most homeowners do not notice until they are standing in their own hallway.

You picked a sofa you loved. Then a rug for the bedroom. Then a dining table that caught your eye online. Each piece made sense in the moment.

But if you have ever asked yourself why your house feels disconnected even though every room looks nice on its own, here is the honest answer: furniture is not a design plan. It is what should come after one.

When you shop room by room without a whole home strategy first, you are solving today's problem and creating tomorrow's mismatch. Undertones that do not agree. Styles that feel like they belong to different houses. A home that looks finished, but does not feel finished when you walk through it.

A cohesive home does not mean everything matches. It means every room speaks the same language, so your whole house flows the way it looks in your head (before life and Target runs got in the way).

Which room in your home feels the most out of place right now? Tell me below, I want to know.

If your rooms have been feeling more collected than connected, let's build a whole home design plan before you buy another piece. Message me or book a 15-minute consultation, and let's make your home feel as good as it looks, room to room.

Your home can be elegant and deeply livable.

But I hear the same worry all the time: "If I make it beautiful, the kids or the pets will ruin it."

(Maybe you have said it too. I would not blame you.)

From the outside, your home looks pulled together. On the inside, you tense up every time someone walks in with juice, muddy paws, or a marker. So the light sofa stays off limits, the good rug gets rolled up, and the living room becomes a room you look at instead of a room you live in.

That is not what you pictured. You did not want a museum. You wanted a home where everyone can relax and you still feel proud of how it looks. (Sandy paws after a Wilmington beach day included.)

So what makes a home kid-friendly and pet-friendly? Here is what I look at first:

1. Fabrics that clean easily and hold up to real life, like tightly woven weaves and washable slipcovers.

2. Rugs and flooring that forgive spills, with natural fibers and washable options.

3. A layout with room to move, so fewer things get bumped, knocked over, or tripped on.

4. Closed storage for toys and pet gear, so the room can reset in minutes.

5. Healthier materials, because little ones and pets live close to the floor. I choose lower-toxicity materials, selected with health and sustainability in mind, and I ask what is in the stain protection, not only whether it repels a spill.

A beautiful home and a family-friendly home are not opposites. They just need a plan before the shopping starts.

Which one sounds most like your home: the sofa nobody can sit on, or the rug that is always rolled up? Tell me in the comments.

If your space needs direction, not more guesswork, send me a message or book a consultation. Let's make your home feel good to live in, for the whole family and for pets too.

What's the one room in your home that never feels quite right?

Maybe it's the guest room that quietly became a catch-all. The office corner buried under mail and half-finished projects. The living room you stop showing people because you don't know where to even start.

You're not lazy. You're busy. And when a room gets that overwhelming, the hard part usually isn't picking a paint color or finding the right rug. It's just knowing what to tackle first.

That's almost always where I start with clients here in Wilmington. Not with shopping. Not with a Pinterest board. With a plan, so every decision after that actually makes sense together, and you're not left guessing or spending money on things that don't fix the real problem.

A cluttered, unfinished room is rarely a style problem. It's a plan problem. Once there's a plan, the overwhelm tends to go a lot faster than the redesign does.

Drop the room you'd fix first, even if you have zero idea where to begin. And if you're ready for an actual plan instead of more guesswork, send me a message. I'll help you figure out what comes first.

One of the best compliments we hear from clients? When their guests walk in and ask, "Who designed your home?"

That reaction is the whole point. It means the space feels intentional, not just decorated.

If your home isn't getting that reaction yet, that's exactly why I am here. Message me and let's start with a 15-minute fit call.

"I'm not buying anything today", famous last words of every interior designer walking into a home store. I would lie if I say I am not one of those... but I guess I am 😂

We see the pretty things and suddenly it's "for a client" (when it's not)

Do you have the same friend as me? It can be a non-interior designer who has the same girly habits? Tag them for me, love to hear their thoughts too. 👇

If you're looking for a designer who actually gets it, I always got your back. Message me or book your 15 minute consultation, let's shop for your next home refresh together.
