Lisa Macintosh is a dear friend of Greg and I. Saturday evening her son Garrett was killed in a tragic snowmobile accident. He was only 20 years old. A really terrific young man, kind hearted with a great sense of humor. A life that ended way to soon.

Garrett leaves behind his parents, older brother and two younger sisters. Moments like these are never planned, nor are they easy to emotionally navigate. Garrett’s funeral is this Thursday, Feb 2nd and the family is in need of financial support to assist in covering medical and funeral expenses. Please consider giving to this sweet family and lifting them up in prayer.

I received a call from Santa the other day and it seems some very good girls have asked for Barn Quilts this Christmas. Wanted to give a special shoutout & thank you to all the employees at our local Byron Ace Hardware. I always know I am in such good hands when I walk in the door. Across the United States and into Canada quilts have gone from bed covers to barn side, sewing needle to paint brush, fabric to wood, and traditional design to original art. Quilts have transformed both American architecture and the landscape.

In 2001 the first 10’ x 10’ Ohio Star Block was painted on an herb farm barn in Ohio. This juxtaposition of quilts and architecture became an American Art Movement.

Thank you Ginny Schaum for including my story and artwork in your new book Barn Quilts - Folk Art to Modern Obsession. I am truly honored.
