Besides my personal collection of a few dozen pieces of quality vintage cast iron, I also buy older cast iron to restore, I sell restored cast iron cookware, and offer restoration services for a fair price.

Came across these pieces in a guy's collection, decided they needed to go right into the lye bath last night.

Luckily, I'd spent the last couple months not adding anything in to my 4 baths, and the last couple weeks emptying and refilling them with fresh lye for just this occasion. The first pictures represent 20 pieces inside the totes, 32 outside. The totes after are with 53 pieces inside. (I added 2 and subtracted 1 as I went.)

(The guy's collection in question was my own.)

WHY 53 PIECES IN THESE TOTES? So there's plenty of room for 10 or 15 more! Is why, silly. I also had a few move out to the e-tank and emptied my 3 e-tanks into the oven.

11 pieces in the oven tonight, 7 pieces in the e-tanks, just need to have the time to get it all through!

CHALLENGE: How many can you spot-ID??

(I use "pieces" to mean entries on my spreadsheet, which counts a fryer with lid as 1, but when actually e-tanking or seasoning, the pieces are actual, 1 lid, 1 fryer, etc. So there's maybe 10 more than what's listed on)

I have a few pieces on Patriot Cast Iron and Cutlery and putting up the big one later today, a #13 Large Block Logo Griswold skillet is the top of the mountain. There have been a few of these sold in the last year, between $3,500 and $4,500 in restored and seasoned condition. This one is immaculate and I expect it to do very well. But yes, only a few a year squeak out onto the market!

I managed to snag one that was nickel plated, something all the manufacturers did, as early as 1890ish, all the way through the 40s. By then the plating started to wear down and what had started as a rust-proof skillet coating started becoming an eyesore.

Some time later, skipping, skipping, skipping, Travis Clatterbuck and I started a deplating service where collectors could have their heirloom pieces deplated for a small fee, or resellers could send things in bulk to be deplated and increase their value. The #13 skillet in question, stands as a testament to the fine work Travis is doing, after months of research, trial & error and multiple test subjects.

Deplating starts at $35 per piece, and is only for nickel to start, but chrome deplating is currently being tested too.

I was honored and privileged to be able to help set up and attend The first Texas Cast Iron Meetup yesterday in Abilene.

Met a couple new friends, reunited with current ones, did a small amount of wheeling and dealing, a large amount of bullsh*tting, and had a great time!

4 pieces done for a very nice gentleman in Pampa, TX. All Lodge, the one in the back is a nicer 3-notch, 1960s, pre-1973, the other 3 are Egg Logo, nothing too exciting. But fully restored and ready to cook with now!

(I'm terrible at remembering Before pictures. Just know, these were an effort. 😆)

To commemorate 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙚𝙣𝙙 𝙤𝙛 𝙖 𝙦𝙪𝙖𝙧𝙩𝙚𝙧 𝙘𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙮, I'm putting up 25 pieces of my inventory at only $25 apiece, 𝗬𝗢𝗨𝗥 𝗖𝗛𝗢𝗜𝗖𝗘! Pick as many or as few as you like, local pickup or plus actual shipping through Pirate, MAXED AT (you guessed it) $𝟮𝟱 𝗣𝗘𝗥 𝗕𝗢𝗫 anywhere in the lower 48!! I can fit 4-5 in a box, depending?

Some of these are in perfect shape, restored, 𝙨𝙤𝙢𝙚 𝙝𝙖𝙫𝙚 𝙞𝙨𝙨𝙪𝙚𝙨, some are unrestored. They are all discounted appropriately. They are not $100 pieces for $25. Obviously. But some are $30-50 value, I think. Some have... 𝙞𝙨𝙨𝙪𝙚𝙨.

(Maybe just credit me so people don't think I stole YOUR idea. 😉) And I'm gonna say this to anyone cynical who thinks this is just a way for me to gain attention and get people interested in higher priced items from my vast inventory: I threw in 1 picture at the end, 𝗝𝗨𝗦𝗧 𝗙𝗢𝗥 𝗬𝗢𝗨.
