Little Miss Sunshine Girls Good Morning

Each Original art piece in the “Little Miss Sunshine Girl Series” is 7” x 10” is a 3D mixed media piece, handcrafted from repurposed materials on mixed media paper. The first in the series, “Good Morning” was created as I packed to leave for Jean, Texas to see my folks. Upon arrival, Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas, I was blown away by the positive response to my social media post she received. So began the series, “Little Miss Sunshine." While on that trip to visit my parents in Texas, I began the process of creating more whimsical girls, I fondly refer to as my “Little Miss Sunshine” series and this is why.

Little Miss Sunshine was named for the song “let the sunshine in” that I used to sing from the top of my lungs with my grandmother. Although, I was born in California, my grandparents who now live in San Diego, were from Texas. Some of my fondest memories are of summer vacations to Texas to visit family. There in the wide-open space on my uncle’s farm I learned a lot of life’s lessons with the most important, freedom. Now, I simply embrace wide-open space with freedom, the heart of a child and find joy.

Each original mixed media artwork in the “Ballerina Series” is 8” x 10” mixed media, watercolor and ink designed with the idea of capturing the hopes and dreams of those who dare to imagine and strive to succeed despite obstacles of their respective surroundings. The element of fluidity captures the essence of water in its power, its motion, its vulnerability; that embody femininity. Each dancer flows with supreme skill and graceful fluidity. As with life, the artwork tactical considerations change rapidly giving voice to the fluidity of the young woman's world coupled with her hopes and dreams of her future.
