“Let both grow together until the harvest.” Matthew 13:30

Jesus says this in the parable of the wheat and the w**ds. The servants wanted to pull up what they believed were w**ds, but the master warned them not to, because in doing so they might uproot the wheat too.

Let it grow. Earlier this summer, I had plants coming up that I thought were w**ds because I didn’t remember plant these in a straight line😂. So I pulled them.

Thankfully, I decided to leave a couple behind. I wasn’t sure what they were, but I thought, Let’s just see what they do.

And this is what they became.

Flowers.🌺 Something I almost threw away because I judged it before it had a chance to bloom.

I keep thinking about Matthew 13:30: “Let both grow together until the harvest.”

There’s a lesson tucked into my flower garden that I think God wanted me to see. Sometimes we’re awfully quick to decide what belongs and what doesn’t.

We look at something in its beginning stages and call it a w**d because it doesn’t look like much yet. We pull at circumstances we don’t understand. We write off seasons that seem unproductive. Sometimes we even do it to people. But God sees the bloom while we’re still looking at the dirt.

Maybe that thing you thought needed to be pulled out needs a little more time. Maybe the season that looks messy isn’t wasted.

Maybe what appears to be a w**d today simply hasn’t shown you what it is yet.

And there’s another part of this picture I love. Most of them were pulled up…. Their main plant. But these weren’t.

They were given a little soil, a little sunshine, and a little time.

And they bloomed anyway. 💜

Sometimes faith looks less like knowing exactly what God is doing and more like having enough patience to say:

“I don’t know what this is yet, Lord. So I’m going to leave it in Your hands and let it grow.”

Maybe we don’t need to understand everything while it’s growing. Maybe we just need to stop pulling long enough to see what God makes of it.

Meet Alphie. 🤍🫏

One of my favorite stories from our little farm.

Alphie was born in April 2025 while we were away with the Alpha Bots at the FIRST Robotics State Championships.

The funny part? We had NO idea he was coming. 😂

No baby countdown. No waiting and watching. Nothing. Just a phone call that basically said, Well… you have a baby donkey.

Because apparently we needed one more thing happening during robotics season. 🤣

Since he decided to make his surprise entrance while the Alpha Bots were competing at States, his name was pretty much decided for us.

Alphie. 💙🧡

A year later and I still can’t get over that face, those giant ears and the fact that this little guy just showed up and became part of our story.

Sometimes the very best things aren’t planned at all. They just show up when you’re busy making other plans. 🤍

And Alphie was definitely one of those.
