The why is two-fold. First and most obvious: itās GOURDGEOUS! š§”š I got it earlier this year from the incredible Ry Fillman Antiques at an antique show and have been waiting impatiently ever since to display it. The second and strongest reason why: the life-changing memories it evokes. Back in the summer of 2019, when we were still living in Florida, we had our first trip to Europe planned. Unfortunately, my bad knee went out on me days before and we had to cancel. Consequently, we had flight credits to use up within the next year. After rehabilitating my knee, we decided to use some flight credits for a fall trip to enjoy foliage thatās sorely lacking in Florida. Between both our work schedules there was only one week that worked for both of us. So, I pulled up a fall foliage prediction map to see what part of the states would likely be at peak that week. And surprise surprise, it was Pennsylvania. If Iām being honest, PA was nowhere on my radar of places to visit. But we went with it anyway and Iām so glad we did! It was a fantastic trip, which included a visit to an apple orchard and pumpkin patch that looked so much like this scene. Then when the pandemic hit the following year, all I could think about was Pennsylvania. It felt like home, where I was meant to be, and I couldnāt shake this relentless notion that I should live there. Iād always dreamt of being in the northeast, assuming New England, but PA stole my heart. Two years later, with us both working remotely, we decided to make the big move! And itās been one of the best decisions weāve ever made! Thus, this painting felt meant for us and will always remind me of how lifeās twists and turns can pleasantly surprise you.
