🍂I like to add subtle touches of fall inside my home. I used to go “all out” with fall decor but as my tastes evolve I lean toward the “less is more” philosophy. There’s an elegance to subtle details that draws me in. 🍂

The season of fall is my favorite. Now that it’s not 80-85 degrees outside it’s starting to feel like Autumn. 🍂 My youngest son chose and arranged all the pumpkins for the front porch this year. I think he chose well. 🎃

Laundry rooms aren’t sexy. They serve a specific function and get a lot of daily use. I spend a lot of time in our laundry room managing a household with boys and dogs. I wanted this space to feel more alive and add some storage. When we moved into our home there were wire shelves above the washer and dryer and the paint color was a dark khaki color with green undertones. Yuck. The whole space felt sad and gloomy. I found some beautiful wallpaper on Amazon and we painted some of the walls West Highland white by Sherwin-Williams. Then we had a contractor install some simple custom cabinets above the washer and dryer. These small changes have made a world of difference in this space. Next up is changing out the linoleum flooring and adding a pretty light fixture. I’ll post more photos when we’re completely finished. But for now we’re enjoying the improvements. We have a big announcement! Haven Interiors, LLC will be launching in WV! When we moved from our beloved home in Colorado I wasn’t sure if I would re-launch Carriage House Interiors or start something new. After careful consideration I decided to create a new business fusing my background in social work and psychology with residential interior design. This interdisciplinary approach enhances my ability to create spaces that not only look beautiful but also cater to the emotional well-being of the inhabitants. More details about this interesting fusion to follow. This new approach to design led me to rename my business “Haven” because every house should feel like a haven when you come home.

Carriage House Interiors will be closing its doors so that Haven Interiors can open theirs. Thank you for following Carriage House Interiors for so many years. I invite you to continue to travel along with us as we begin a new chapter.

In the meantime I will continue to share photos of the progress we are making on our new home- a Colonial Revival in rural West Virginia. It’s a labor of love and after one year of living here it’s finally starting to feel like home. 🤍~Shea

I’m slowly getting our master bedroom put together. It’s always the last space I invest my time designing. Does anyone else do that? I’m looking at new dressers and how to furnish a large sitting area on the opposite side of the room. It’s been baby steps but our new home is slowly starting to feel like home. 💛
