This is probably the first year in a long time that I’m actually ready for fall.

I think it’s the heat.

However, I still love the ‘feeling’ of summer.

I like the relaxed pace, the happy feel of being on summer vacation, and the beauty of late summer evenings. It reminds me of the simplicity of childhood.

However, it’s been a long hot summer and I don’t think I’ll mind cooler days.

Just no pumpkins yet.

Give me two weeks of darkness at 5 o’clock and I’ll be wishing for summer again.

Know what I mean?

‘Call it a Day’ is a little reminder to keep that ‘summer feeling’ in your home all year long.

‘On A Beach Somewhere’

This is a special place.

When I travel, I don’t really buy many souvenirs. I do like a tshirt from a local restaurant or bar and a Christmas ornament.

I used to buy cookbooks when I traveled. However, I found that like many people, I don’t use them much anymore. When I moved, I kept a couple of old favorites but mostly I just Google or use Pinterest to find a recipe.

I do like to collect something that reminds me of a great vacation with family or friends.

What’s special about original art is that it not only makes your home your own, it can remind you of someplace you love.

The serene colors of cool blue water bring a little coastal serenity into a home.

This ‘Beautiful Friendship’ marsh painting reminds me of an early summer or late spring day. My friend and I had rented a kayak. The guy from the rental company delivered it to our rented condo, gave us five minutes of instructions, and sent us on our journey to the harbor.

Well, being new kayakers, we had a little trouble with the current. Specifically, trying to get out of the kayak and back up to the dock at low tide. It seems our little boat was several feet lower than when we left.

Fortunately, a woman happened to be standing on the dock and called out to ask us if we needed help.

I’m pretty sure she was an angel.

Something subtle?

I know, I know.

It’s unusual for me. I do like some bold color.

However, sometimes a serene room is what you need, like a primary bedroom retreat that feels like a sanctuary.

Or you could design a living room with creamy whites, natural rugs, and a little muted color.

Are you afraid of color?

Some people are. Afraid to commit to something that might be too much. Or they just prefer neutrals.

And that’s ok.

I wouldn’t decorate my whole house in color, because it would overwhelm and overstimulate me.

However, I personally like a pop of color, because it makes a room more interesting.

‘Mediterranean Sun’ is inspired by the South of France where the light is strong and the colors are bold. And yes, all of these colors are in the same painting, yet it works.

I don’t paint every day.

I’d like to, but there is a lot of ‘business stuff’ to do. I actually enjoy that part of my work too.

Most of the time.

That said, long days in the studio are my favorite. 🩵

‘Pink is My Signature Color’

It’s not mine, actually, but maybe it’s yours?

I do like a pop of pink in a room filled with blue and white. This marsh painting adds a little coastal flair to an otherwise neutral living room.

Summer’s not over yet.

Are you longing for a few more days?

Other than this crazy heat, I am!

I love the relaxed pace of summer, the warm evenings, ice cream cones, and beach days.

There’s nothing like having a little summer into your home all year long, whether you live near the coast, or just wish you did.

This ‘Beach View’ painting is full of blues and teals and neutrals.

To me, it’s a reminder of those long leisurely days on the beach with nothing on the agenda.

My favorite part? See the little sailboat in the background?

I’ve noticed this about the light in the Lowcountry.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It’s more pure and vibrant because of the wide, flat horizons and reflections on the water.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Before I moved here, I didn’t know that the light changes the colors in the marshes throughout the day.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I’m sure light shifts everywhere, but I think I’ve been paying more attention because I can’t stop studying those marsh views.

Although, I probably shouldn’t be doing it when I drive.
