Somewhere around 40 I realized I’d been saying “oh, that’s fine” about things that were not, in fact, fine. So I stopped. The amount of years I spent nodding along, smoothing things over, saying yes when I meant absolutely not… whew! If you’re like me— you were raised the same way.

But the women I know are done with that now and honestly it’s the best we’ve ever looked. What are you taking a break from? 🩷

Dear Shane Gillis & SNL, NOT funny. Women in this country are at our wits’ end. We’re tired of our bodies being a punchline, a debate topic, and everyone’s business but ours.

And before you run to the comments with “he’s a comedian, lighten up”: this kind of joke is where “she was asking for it” starts. “What did she expect, wearing that?” isn’t a punchline. It’s what gets said about women after something bad happens to them.

I talk about confidence and living unapologetically on my page, and I can’t ignore these types of jokes that make women feel like they have to apologize for showing up.

Find a new joke.

And ladies, wear whatever you want to the gym. Just keep showing up for yourself.

I spent my 20s trying to be liked, my 30s trying to keep up, and my 40s figuring out which of those rules I actually agreed with.

Now I wear what I want, say what I mean, and leave the party when I’m tired. Nobody handed me a giant check, but the feeling of owning who I am is priceless.

Somewhere along the way, the woman who takes 20 minutes for herself in the morning got labeled vain. Meanwhile we’ll spend two hours making sure everyone else has breakfast, clean socks, and a ride.

For years I got dressed in whatever was closest to the door. Not because I didn’t care. Because caring felt like something I had to earn first.

Turns out the 20 minutes was never the problem. Doing it alone was.

Can we do something just for us?

Most mornings, we’re out the door taking care of everybody else before we’ve done one thing for ourselves. I’ve been working on something to change that, and it’s in this pink box.

It’s called the Good JuJu Challenge. Ten weekday mornings, October 19th-30th, where we get ready together. I’ll be live every morning at 8:30am EST with the products in your box, the tips you’re always asking me about (yes, the brows!), and a few brand founders joining me for the demos.

I’ve got two sons in college right now and a daughter. So yes, we’re having the talk. Again.

Here’s what I’m telling them:
• Drunk or high means no. Women who are incapacitated cannot give consent. There’s no gray area to argue about later.
• If it shows up in the group chat, you say something. Staying quiet is a choice too.
• If a buddy is heading somewhere bad, you pull him out of that room. That’s what a friend does.
• If anything ever happens to you, call me. No lecture. I’ll come get you.

I think my kids are good kids, and I’d bet the parents of every boy in that group chat thought the same thing about theirs. 🍇 culture was a thing when I was in college, and it still is. We MUST have these conversations with our kids if we want something to change.

It’s not one conversation. It’s a hundred small ones. Have one tonight.🩷

After I turned 40, I started to wear turtlenecks and scarves just to cover my neck. Then one day it was 97 degrees in July and I thought, who exactly am I doing this for? Hair went up, necklace went on, and nobody fainted.

Finish this sentence for me: I finally stopped hiding my ________.
