Our little homestead is a place where we share our passion for all things homesteading, from gardening and raising animals to crafting DIY projects and recipes. 🌿 About Us – Brooks Family Homestead Haven™, Brooks Goatie Haven™, Brooks Hen Haven™, Brooks Honeybee Apiary Haven™, Brooks Apothecary Kitchen™, and Brooks Garden Haven™
Mischievous goats, muddy boots, moonlit mists, flower-strewn gardens
, and wildflower remedies—all grown from the same roots. That’s where I fell in love with 4-H—showing horses and rabbits, learning photography, and feeling the pull of a more grounded life. On September 18, 1987, I met the country boy who would change everything. He was raised on dirt roads and fresh air, and we quickly found joy in the same things: country living, gardening (flowers and veggies for me!), fishing, riding horses, raising chickens and rabbits, and dreaming of a life rooted in land and legacy. We raised three incredible kids, and they blessed us with eight wild and wonderful grandbabies. Our homestead is full of little feet, dirty hands, and belly laughs. It’s muddy. And it’s absolutely perfect.
🌾 Our Story
In our early 40s, that dream became real. In 2014, we found a run-down farmhouse that just felt right. It wasn’t much to look at, but it had soul. We rolled up our sleeves, and over the years, we built Brooks Family Homestead Haven™—a multigenerational homestead where family, food, tradition, and nature live side by side.
🐶 The Doggos & Barn Cats
No farm is complete without a loyal pack and a few bossy cats. Our dogs—Izzy, Patches, Dinga, and Buddy—are part watchdog, part cuddlebug, and 100% family. They follow us everywhere, from the garden rows to the goat pen. Our cats—Sox, Boots, Orange, and Phantom—are equal parts pest patrol and porch nap pros. You’ll find them stretched across feed sacks, snoozing in sunbeams, or pretending they own the place. (They kind of do.)
🐐 The Goats – Brooks Goatie Haven™
Our homestead wouldn’t be what it is without our goats: Truffles Sassy Pants, Frost-er, Squishy, Onyx, Pugsley, and Wednesday. These Boer cross bottle babies were raised right in the house until they were yearlings—and they still think they run the place. Playful, curious, and always up to something, our goats are pure personality on hooves.
🐔 The Coop – Brooks Hen Haven™
In Brooks Hen Haven™, our chickens roam freely, offering us colorful eggs, garden cleanup, and plenty of entertainment. They’ve become part of the rhythm of our days—scratching, clucking, and reminding us how the simplest things are often the sweetest.
🍯 The Bees – Brooks Honeybee Apiary Haven™
At Brooks Honeybee Apiary Haven™, our bees hum through the fields and herb beds, crafting golden honey that fills our pantry and powers our apothecary. They pollinate our crops and remind us every day how small work makes a big difference.
🌿 The Plants – Brooks Garden Haven™
Brooks Garden Haven™ is where healing begins. We grow our own food, medicinal herbs, and plenty of flowers—always organically, always with intention. It's part sanctuary, part seed bank, and part herbal workshop. You’ll often find me deep in the woods or along the fence line, foraging wild medicinal plants like yarrow, plantain, violets, goldenrod, and wild rose. These wild gifts are turned into small-batch tinctures, salves, and infusions—with the same love we give to every garden-grown herb.
🌼 The Apothecary – Brooks Apothecary Kitchen™
Rooted in Nature. Made with Intention. Nourishing from the Inside Out. At Brooks Apothecary Kitchen™, we handcraft natural skincare, herbal remedies, and wellness rituals using garden-grown and wildcrafted ingredients. Everything is slow-infused, stirred by hand, and packaged with care. Our mission is simple: to reconnect you to the land through clean, conscious products that honor your skin, your senses, and the seasons. What happens in the barnyard and what happens in the balm jar are both part of our healing work.
