Sometimes I take for granted my favorite coffee mug (one I purchased from a local potter). Every morning I fill it with iced mocha, which I prefer over hot coffee, and drink it while I answer emails or peruse the depressing news of the day. As I was on the last step of glazing the cups in the photo, I remembered how much time it takes to make just one cup (or mug, if you prefer). In all, there's the wedging of the clay, turning it on the wheel, pulling and applying the handle, bisque firing it, sanding and cleaning it, then 3 coats of base glaze...all that before I even get to do the fun part of painting a design on it; then one last firing before it's finally a finished mug. Now, when I drink my mocha in the mornings, I take a moment to appreciate the effort it took for its maker to bring it to my table. Savor your mornings, enjoy your days, and appreciate the blessings we're given.❤
