I'm not much of a spindle turner, but I made this modern-looking little vase for my love this morning. Looks great with some lavender from our garden, I think.

Sapele mushroom cloud bowl. A little atomic experimentation just for the fun of it. Turned very easily on my RobCo Industries lathe!

Little distressed pot from a poor quality hickory blank. I've not been able to get good bowls from these so I'm experimenting.

Turned thin, cracks created in the rim on purpose by heating through sanding. Burn line detail. Darkened in a "tea" made of padauk dust and turning waste soaked in water, then toasted over a butane burner. It was then aggressively microwaved to force warping.

Quite a process, but I love the result!

Made some fancy stuff yesterday to show off the bowls in action, but not today! Here's some cheap Chinese takeout looking great in a padauk bowl. 🤤

Apple cider and maple syrup brined pork loin chops with an apple butter, currants, rum, and cream sauce. Served alongside crispy Yukon Gold potatoes, grilled corn on the cob, and fresh green beans. Absolutely delicious!

Presented on padauk platters and a padauk bowl. I think the beauty of the wood complimented the appeal of the food perfectly.

I've been getting questions about whether I personally use any of my bowls to hold food. Absolutely yes! This purpleheart bowl is my go-to for yoghurt, in this case plain Greek with dried cherries and honey.

Just a quick hand wash and the occasional wipe with Walrus Oil and she stays in great shape! I include a little Walrus Oil when I send a bowl to a forever home.

I'll think I'll have to show more of these in use. 😁

The second padauk bowl from the Rockler board. I might like this one even more than the first. Slight undercut on the underside of the rim, burn line details on the rim and foot.

Great colors, exceedingly well balanced, feels "right" to pick it up.

I've been fortunate to find some absolutely beautiful ash recently! Nothing fancy in terms of design for this one, just letting that figure speak for itself. Finished with linseed oil and beeswax.

I did get a little fancy on the foot, though, couldn't help myself.

Shallow 26cm x 5cm (~10.5" x 2") padauk bowl from the board I got yesterday. I'm really impressed with the looks of this one, and I think I nailed the simple design.

Looking forward to the next two bowls from this bit of wood!

Slightly-closed form live edge oak bowl with some really neat grain. This one was a bit of a bear to turn, surprisingly. The rest of the log has been kind to me, but this one made me work. I'm really happy with how it turned out, though!

I'm grateful to everything I've learned along the way that allowed this one to be a success. Thank goodness for adaptability!

Intentionally warped bowl resting in the piece of wood from whence it came. This was a lucky find that's lead to some neat bowls so far!

I almost left this one lying thinking there wouldn't be enough good stuff to work with, but I'm glad I listened to that little inner voice.
