In celebration of MLK Day, Little is launching a weeklong book drive to collect culturally inclusive books for literacy nonprofits in our local communities. Dr. King acknowledged and fought for systemic change. Culturally inclusive books contain characters of color, including main characters representing a minority point of view. They help facilitate belonging and build empathy with all who read them. Books children are exposed to shape how they see the world, and exposing children to diverse literature is a way to make sure they see the world as it is—wonderfully diverse!
Each Little office has partnered with a local organization that supports literacy in our communities. Head to our blog to read about the nonprofits we are supporting and access wish lists to easily purchase culturally inclusive books that ship directly to the benefiting organization. Hurry! Our book drive closes on Friday, January 20.
