June 7th, 2025. The day our whole lives changed in ways I never could have imagined.
A day that was supposed to be a celebration, bringing our families together and celebrating the light at the end of the tunnel, quickly led us into another tunnel that, at the time, felt even harder to navigate.. (but for the record, regardless of that- still was one of the best days of my life!!)
I haven’t shared much of this story publicly, but the truth is, opening Oopsey Danesy was never supposed to become a full-time job or a storefront. It was supposed to be a fun little hobby.
But as that hobby grew, so did the need for space. I took on a lease while continuing to work in my career of six years, trying to balance it all.
Then, at my job, I found myself in a situation where a client attempted to assault me.
And please understand when I say I am beyond grateful that my story gets to include the word attempted.
Unfortunately, after my safety concerns were not taken seriously by my former employer, I found myself having to take a leave of absence and ultimately resign when returning to work still didn’t guarantee that this client would no longer be on my caseload.
And just like that, life as I knew it shifted.
Family dynamics changed. People left. Relationships changed. And some of the most incredible people came into my life at a time when I needed them most, even though they had only recently become part of my story.
Those people held me up. They gave me encouragement when I doubted myself, faith when I struggled to find my own, and unconditional love when I needed it most. They believed in me and encouraged me to take a chance on this little dream of mine.
And for that, I will forever be grateful. 🤍
For a long time, I think I needed Oopsey Danesy to prove something. To myself, and maybe to a few other people, too. 🫣
I needed to prove that I was capable. That I could build something. That I could take something difficult and turn it into something beautiful.
And in so many ways, I did.
But as we approach a little over a year in business, life looks different again.
The economy is increasingly unpredictable. The cost of living continues to climb. And somewhere along the way, I realized that I no longer need to prove my worth by doing more, being more, or accomplishing more.
Sometimes, growth looks like building something new.
And sometimes, growth looks like giving yourself permission to let something go.
It looks like choosing your family. Choosing peace. Choosing sustainability over constantly pushing yourself to do it all.
It looks like recognizing that just because you can carry something doesn’t mean you have to carry it forever.
So, with a full heart and a lot of emotions, it is time to share that the Oopsey Danesy storefront will be closing.
This isn’t the end of the story. It’s simply a new chapter.
Rooted. — by Oopsey Danesy will continue to grow, bringing you all the things we’ve loved creating together: Plant Bingo, speed dating, workshops, flower events, and so much more throughout our community.
The storefront may be closing, but the connections, creativity, laughter, and memories we’ve made together aren’t going anywhere.
To everyone who has walked through my doors, purchased a bouquet, brought home a plant baby, attended an event, shared a post, encouraged me, or simply reminded me that what I was building mattered: THANK YOU.
Thank you for welcoming me into this community. Thank you for supporting a dream that grew into something much bigger than I ever anticipated. Thank you for being part of a chapter of my life that changed me in ways I am still learning to understand.
Oopsey Danesy became so much more than a flower and plant shop. It became a reminder that beautiful things can grow out of difficult seasons, that community can show up in unexpected ways, and that starting over doesn’t mean starting from nothing.
Sometimes, it means taking everything you’ve learned, everything you’ve built, and everything you’ve become, and allowing yourself to grow in a different direction.
Here’s to new roots, different seasons, and giving ourselves permission to change. 🌱
The storefront is closing, but this isn’t goodbye. It’s simply time to grow a little differently.
The store front will be officially closed 11/29. Stay tuned in the meantime for pop-up sales and to snag some steals on plants, apparel, furniture.. all the things!
With so much love and gratitude,
Oopsey Danesy 🤍
