Happy National Boss’s Day!

As the owner of Hulse Design Co., I’d like to take a moment to recognize our entire hardworking team. Small crew, great work ethic, and strangely enough, everyone is named Ryan.

Not a bad group of guys to work with and the boss is pretty cool too!

Huge thanks to Mark Adams for these awesome portraits from Maker Camp 2026!

That wire is a paid actor… Why did it move?! Anyway, the electrician needs an access panel but the homeowners don’t want one that was visible. Solution… put inside a shelf.

Spooky season is here!!

Before the built-ins, there were pumpkins. I used to make an unreasonable amount of these little guys for fall markets. All made from scrap wood and pretty fun to make.

Crazy to think stuff like this is where it all started.

Unfortunately, the hair flow only happens for the ’gram.

Quick tip.

When staining something with tight gaps or hard to reach areas, grab a small soft-bristled brush. It gets the stain where a rag just can’t without making a mess of everything around it.

Simple trick, but it makes staining a lot easier.

Hopefully this helps someone on their next project.

Fall is starting to show up around here. Leaves are changing, the air is getting cooler, and suddenly these spaces start looking a whole lot cozier.

A few fireplaces I’ve had the chance to transform over the years.

Bring on fireplace season.

Somewhere there’s a woodworker in there.

Sometimes you have to let the dust settle before you can see what’s next. Be the change you want to happen.

Correct me if I’m wrong but, there’s no better feeling when you precut and assemble a run and it’s fits like a glove.

Holy sh*t…. 39 already? Wild. Took the day to relax and reset.

I’ve been busy lately, and the shop definitely looks like it. But today the light was hitting right, the vibe felt right, so figured it was time for another Shop Vibes post.

Grateful for good people, good health, family, friends, clients, and everyone who’s been part of the ride.

Now I’m just going to act like 39 is still young.

Mozambique all the way through on this build. The goal was simple, let the material speak and make it feel like it belongs in the space. Really happy with how this one came out.
