Thistle Hill Weavers is a unique workplace which provides custom historic and luxury woven fabrics to our clients. The atmosphere at Thistle Hill is one of comradery and creative energy. We are looking for an individual who shares our values of excellence in craftmanship and a positive progressive attitude to the world.
We are looking for an individual with good organizational skills. Must have fine detail hand skills. Should be able to pick up rolls of fabric weighing 30 lbs. Be physically able to stand at a loom for tying in and threading for extended periods of time. Although all skills will be taught at Thistle Hill Weavers, a knowledge of textiles and history would be helpful. We work on many projects at a time, the individual we are seeking must be able to multitask and be flexible to changing priorities during a day.
The main responsibility of the job includes but is not limited to, inspection and repair of cloth, washing and finishing yardage, shipping using UPS, FedEx, and USPS. The skills that will be taught include hand warping for fabric samples, threading and sleying on hand and power looms and weaving. No prior knowledge is necessary but a willingness to follow detailed instructions and maintain the highest quality for our clients. Helpful skills for this position would be familiarity with other hand crafts.

Thistle Hill Weavers is looking for an assistant part-time seamstress to help with our reproduction sewing in our weaving mill.
We are looking for the right person to do fine machine and hand sewing on our fabrics being made into window treatments and bed hangings. The individual must be able to work under the direction of our staff, following specific instructions and be able to work independently on projects.
Good hands skills are a must. The work includes hemming, sewing on fringes, seaming fabrics, putting rings on curtains and bed hangings and reproducing 18th century sewing techniques.
This is an Assistant position with a set schedule of Monday through Thursday from 9 AM to 1 PM. The individual would be working closely with our trained staff to create beautiful work for historic house museums, the national Park service and private clients.
We are looking for a mature individual who works well with others, but can also work on projects that are complex, keeping the quality of the work at its highest level.
