Some dishes feel like the person who taught you how to make them.
Chicken and dumplings will always be Mamaw to me, the way we would catch up while the broth simmered, the way her hands moved without measuring, the way she'd say "just cook it
'til it feels right." I swear I can still see her standing over the stove every time I stir this pot.
Part 2 of this little three-part story is all about that kind of memory. My hubs and I sat down with this bowl and talked about how food can transport you back in time, and it hit me in the sweetest way. One bite and suddenly I was ten years old again, watching her pinch off dough and drop it into the bubbling broth like it was the easiest magic in the world.
I'll list the recipe below, but if you want the full step-by-step, and the funny story about the day I learned to make these, head over to my YouTube channel.
