"Making A Wish On A Lightning Storm"

This photo was taken a few nights ago at the beach. Storms sometimes pass over the lake in a way that feels almost cinematic — distant flashes, slow-moving clouds, and the occasional heat lightning from miles away.

Lately, Aria has been fascinated by watching them. I loved capturing her taking it all in from a safe distance during sunset, and I finally managed to catch lightning on camera for the first time.

📸 Sunset 6/25/2026

I still can't believe it took me this long to truly explore this side of the beach. Ever since we first started coming here, these massive boulders have completely captivated me.

Finally climbing across the rocks from the shoreline, searching for the perfect places to set the sphere, made this shoot feel like an adventure instead of just another photo session. Every angle revealed something new, from the colorful stones scattered along the shore to the incredible textures carved into the boulders by years of wind and waves. The mix of rugged rock, smooth pebbles, and shifting light creates a scene that feels different every time I visit.

I'm genuinely happy with how these images turned out. At the same time, I know I've only scratched the surface of what this incredible shoreline has to offer. I'm already looking forward to returning, experimenting with new perspectives, chasing different lighting conditions, and continuing to discover the endless creative possibilities hidden among these rocks. Every visit feels like there's another story waiting to be captured.

Thrasher finally got to explore the rocks just off the shoreline last night. I had been waiting for a calmer day on the lake so I could safely make my way out to this spot. My hope was to have calmer water around the rocks to capture a few different angles, but the waves kept rolling in and getting a little too close to the camera, so I had to limit what I could do.

Even with those challenges, it was an awesome experience and definitely worth the wait.

On another note, I absolutely love Thrasher's coloration. Seeing him in a real-world environment makes his colors look incredibly natural. I can't wait to capture more photos of him with his sail breaking through the water—I've got a feeling those shots are going to be some of my favorites yet.

This series of photos is titled ""Another Sunset, Another Planet". It showcases a moment when a familiar pebbled beach became something extraordinary. Powerful waves rolled over the shoreline as the sunset painted the horizon in fiery shades of orange, giving the landscape an almost extraterrestrial appearance.

I thought the photos I took the other night were incredible, and I was absolutely thrilled with how they turned out. But last night surprised me even more—I was completely in awe of the results.

The colors were breathtaking. I loved the way the darker clouds added depth and drama, allowing the hues of the sunset to flow through them so beautifully. The texture created by the waves as I placed the sphere into the water was absolutely perfect, and the reflections I captured were unlike anything I've ever been able to photograph before.

I am completely in love with these images and can't stop staring at them. No filters. No editing. Just the pure beauty of Lake Michigan at sunset.
In moments like these, creativity seems to flow effortlessly, inspired simply by being present. I feel incredibly fortunate to live by the beach and to experience these small yet extraordinary moments that remind me to appreciate the beauty in life.

Meet the newest addition to the model team, Thrasher the Spinosaurus. Having just been adopted from a spontaneous Hobby Lobby trip, it was an easy decision to bring him to the beach last day and introduce him to the Lake Michigan water.

As a dinosaur that could be on both land and water, Thrasher was a bit hesitant to wade super far into the water. For a first attempt though, he did great. Cannot wait to see more pictures we can create together.

My baby plateosaurus Scout wanted to go for a swim yesterday. Had to keep him away from the waves because he kept getting swept away. We will try again on a calmer day. He enjoyed the sunset though. This was a good first attempt.

After crazy storms going through our area last night, it felt good to head down to the beach and be creative again. Spheretography in full swing! These are just a few pictures I took.

It was neat because a group of ladies who were hanging out with their husband's taking pictures with each other asked me to take a group photo of them with sunset. After their picture they saw me taking photos again on the beach with my sphere and asked me what I was doing. I showed them and how I take photos with it. Then a couple of them asked if I could show them so they could take some with their phone. They were really happy and I was thrilled to show them. It was a great night and a beautiful sunset on the beach. For sure more adventures to come.

It's been awhile since I posted some skyline pics. Here are some from the past few months.
