My beautiful souls piece has snippets of this early oil painting on paper I did of a good friend 🧡 for femmes in the space solidarity isnt just a word its everything, the band you play in, the smile you brandish, the tone of your instrument, the money you make. Tired of other femmes punching down or policing a right way to use your voice or erasing/disregarding it completely.

I love the challenges painting on wood provides! A once living textured canvas - different shades of sienna, oak and pine. So many options! I didn't prime this one but I totally recommend priming if you dont want to use more oil. Im using poppy oil to see if I like it, and it's fast drying properties!

Multimedia works are loosely based on their experiences and traumas that come with , mental illness, and growing up without stable care facing ethnocentric monoculturalism. Their passion for art started as unknowingly coping with reality as a latinx child. Alienation from la Comunidad, city to city carved the false ideals that q***r youth should be cleansed or exists as the scum of the earth. After a q***r collective journey, the term was taken back and “Scum” empowers sinvergüenza (without shame).
