There was a time when “fast” felt like the goal.

Fast shipping. Fast trends. Fast interiors.

But somewhere along the way, homes started feeling less personal. Beautiful, maybe — but missing the character that comes from pieces chosen slowly and lived with over time.

I’ve been thinking a lot about the return to craftsmanship lately and why so many people are gravitating toward handcrafted interiors, custom details, and homes that feel collected rather than manufactured

I wrote about that shift in our newest blog post:
The Return of Artisanal Home Décor

If you’ve been feeling drawn toward handcrafted interiors, layered spaces, and homes with character and soul, I think this conversation will resonate with you.

Not every lampshade needs to begin from scratch to feel deeply considered.

This made-to-order version of our Kensington Lampshade was refined with a few thoughtful adjustments for our client’s space. Finished in white faux crocodile with the addition of a soft neutral trim that subtly transformed the final piece.

The sculptural texture brings depth and movement, while the tailored drum silhouette keeps the design feeling clean, architectural, and timeless.

One of the things we love most about our made-to-order collection is that it allows room for personalization without requiring a fully bespoke commission. Small changes in finish, trim, lining, proportions, or detailing can completely shift how a piece lives within a room.

Don’t need a fully custom lampshade?
Our made-to-order designs are still crafted with flexibility in mind — allowing you to tailor the final piece so it feels truly at home in yours. Link in bio.

A little whimsy never hurt a room.

In fact, we’d argue it’s often the detail that makes a space feel truly lived in.

Bows. Animal prints. Unexpected florals. Silk fringe. A lampshade that feels just a little dramatic in the best possible way. These are the pieces that bring personality into a home — the ones that make guests pause, smile, and ask questions.

Not everything has to match perfectly or play it safe to feel elevated. Sometimes the most memorable interiors are the ones willing to flirt a little with charm, nostalgia, color, texture, or surprise.

Lighting should do more than illuminate a room. It should say something about the people living in it.

And honestly? We think lampshades are the perfect place to have a little fun with that.

Green has quietly become one of the most enduring “neutrals” in interiors — grounding a space the same way ivory, camel, or charcoal once did, but with far more depth and life.

From mossy velvets and olive faux croc to tailored prints and botanical motifs, we continue coming back to green because it layers so naturally into a home.

It softens architecture, complements wood tones and brass beautifully, and brings a sense of warmth without overwhelming a room.

And of course…we’ll never stop loving an animal print as a neutral. When layered thoughtfully, leopard, zebra, and cowhide read less as bold patterns and more as natural texture.

The best interiors rarely rely on a single statement. They build atmosphere through layering — pattern, texture, light, and the pieces that quietly hold a room together.

There’s a reason handmade objects feel different in a room.

Not because they’re flawless — but because they carry evidence of care, patience, and the presence of the person who made them.

In a world chasing faster and more perfect, we’re still choosing the slow fold, the hand stitch, the gathered edge pinned into place one detail at a time.

The human touch isn’t something to hide.
It’s what gives an object soul enough to stay.

Design isn’t finished until the lighting is right.

Summer evenings were made for this — soft light, slow dinners, gathered shades glowing long after sunset, and the people who make a house feel like home.

This custom commissioned pair, combined Benito velvet from Romo with the Gold Orion Studded Border trim from Samuel & Sons. The result is a study in contrast and dimensionality: the painterly movement of the velvet softened by the disciplined rhythm of metallic studs.

Perfect for their intended home, shaped by collecting — where art, objects, and furnishings have been gathered over time with intention. A home where even the lighting must hold its own presence.

From a distance, the fabric reads almost like abstract brushwork, shifting in tone and depth as the light moves across its surface. The trim introduces a sharper architectural note — structured, deliberate, and quietly graphic. Together, the pairing creates an object that feels less decorative and more compositional.

It’s this layered interplay between material, texture, and silhouette that allows lighting to become part of a room’s visual language rather than merely its illumination.

Design isn’t finished until the lighting is right.
