International Women’s Day is often described as a celebration and I’ve been thinking about the women who keep life stitched together—
often quietly, often without credit, always with strength.

TerraKlay exists because we believe in a different kind of economy—one built on skill, fairness, and long-term relationships. Many of our makers are women, and every piece carries their patience and pride.

It’s also impossible to ignore what’s happening globally but my hope is that one day we won’t need International Women’s Day as a rights movement—because safety, opportunity, and equality won’t be something anyone has to fight for. And then this day can be what it should always have been: a wholehearted celebration of what women stand for, and what women make possible.

🍋✨ Nothing says summer like a neighborhood lemonade stand.
Those warm days when little hands pour big cups of lemonade, and strangers become neighbors with just one sip.

At TerraKlay, we had to recreate that classic lemonade stand in our style—because some memories are just too sweet to let go.

We remember what it felt like to stand in the heat, shouting “Lemonade for a dollar!” with all the strength little lungs could muster—hoping to catch the attention of passing cars. That first customer, that first dollar, that first sip—it was pride, joy, and refreshment all at once.

Looking back, I still see the sparkle in the kids’ eyes, the thrill of earning something on their own, and the pure excitement of being part of something special.

I’ve been using ChatGPT over the last few months as a solopreneur building two deeply personal ventures:

Himalayan Naari’s - brand, a nonprofit supporting women artisans in the Himalayas through naturally hand-dyed yarn production
And
TerraKlay, an ethical home and tabletop brand rooted in global craft traditions

On a daily basis I work on shipping logistics, artisan relationships, product storytelling, content writing, design, product photoshoots, grant applications, and figuring things out as I go.

I asked ChatGPT to show me what it’s like to chat with me. And it gave me this image.

The yarns. The stacked bowls. The open notebook. The bulletin board of real women. Even the sticky notes with half-baked plans and deadlines. Including me wearing glasses. 🤓

I don’t know what the future of AI and handmade craft will look like — but I do know that when used with intention, these tools can help us tell truer stories about our work and why it matters. What are your thoughts on AI.
