IN THE STUDIO // Sometimes more than showing finished works, I really enjoy sharing my journey with WIP shots (work in progress). It makes me experience the process of creating more deeply. This one is an angled detail shot ... I love how the lighting at this angle forces the texture off the paper and to have a voice, while the outer blurry areas hint that there’s more to the story. ❤️ Happy Wednesday, friends!

💛 There’s a simplicity when you recognize that parameters are beautiful. In my imagination, I dreamed of all the things I thought I would do, but none of them were meant for me. Somehow, life reined me in so I can have a place of peace, of clarity, of learning what’s best for my life. All the perceived limitations, the waiting, things taking so long … it’s never once been about anything except keeping me on the right path through love.

☀️A childhood memory... the late day sun following an afternoon of laughter in the backyard. Cool, shimmering pool spilled over onto the concrete, flowers and plants illuminated in the glow of the lowering, golden orb that pours forth over all the sea out in the distance. The brightness of friendship remains in my heart forever.

⛱ 🌞🌴🐳 This one brings back memories of walking along the street above Corona del Mar beach where I grew up in California. Now living in Chicago, with the grit and concrete, I often go online to do searches of this street, with its juicy succulents, amazing ocean views, and beautiful surrounding homes. It never fails to fill my heart with that longing to return.

I dream about having an entire studio full of blank surfaces, waiting to receive color and life. Sometimes I selfishly want to keep them as they are: at-the-ready, clean, pristine. But, what good will it do for others to withhold what they are meant to become? It’s like people that way.❤️
