Before you freak out, no... the dogs aren't peeing in the bathroom! 😂🐶

I designed these playful bathroom signs for a canine therapy center, complete with a little doggy bathroom humor. Because why should functional spaces be boring?

Good design isn't always serious. Sometimes it's about adding personality, making people smile, and creating little moments of unexpected fun.

Consider this your reminder that design should have a sense of humor, too. And whenever possible, don't be afraid to let a little personality sneak into your spaces. 😉

🎧 THE WALLPAPER ASMR YOU DIDN’T KNOW YOU NEEDED! 🤤✨

Tell me I’m not the only one who thinks flocked wallpaper needs to make a comeback! 😍

Watching this stuff peel off in ONE satisfying piece, with those delicious little ripping sounds… I could do this all day. 😂

And honestly, nothing beats rubbing your face against fuzzy wallpaper. It's a whole sensory experience! A feast for the eyes, a treat for the ears, and apparently, a questionable pleasure for your face. 🤣

Who says home renovations can't be a little therapeutic?

Yeah… that seems right. 😂

Pulled off the window trim and found CLOTHING stuffed inside the gaps.

Not insulation.
Not newspaper.
Not some random piece of construction debris.

Actual CLOTHES. 🤯

I have no idea why they were shoved in there, but after renovating houses for years, I can confidently say:

This is the weirdest thing I have ever found inside a wall.

You truly never know what you’re going to uncover when you start opening up an old house.

And honestly… I have questions. 😂

FLOOR SANDING DAY ??? — I’M FINALLY DONE! 🙌

The coats of poly are down and THANK GOD… I FINISHED! 😂

There were so many moments during this project when I completely freaked out thinking I had ruined these floors. Every step seemed to uncover another surprise, and more than once I wondered if I had gotten in way over my head.

Then I’d take a breath… keep going… and somehow make it to the next step.

I definitely became impatient—especially waiting for the weather to cool down so I could finally finish. 🥵 But here we are.

Do I see my mistakes? Absolutely.
Would I do some things differently next time? Probably.
Are the floors more red than I wanted? Yep.

And because of the different cuts of wood throughout the floors, there is SO much variation in the pattern and color. You just never know what you're going to uncover when you pull up decades-old carpet!

But you know what?

I DID IT. ❤️

These floors are over 80 years old, and while they aren't perfect, I think the imperfections give them even more character.

And let's not forget what was covering them…

1970s CARPET. 🤢

So yeah… I'll take these floors. Every imperfect, character-filled inch of them.

Another project that made me question my life choices—but I kept going.

FLOOR SANDING — DAY 6 🪵

The stain is FINALLY down! 🙌 After waiting an entire week for the weather to cooperate, I finally got the green light.

And this is exactly why you never really know what you’re going to uncover when you pull up old carpet. With all the variations in the wood cuts, the stain looks completely different from board to board.

There’s so much pattern happening here, especially with the rift- and quarter-sawn pine. Some areas are lighter, some darker, and the grain is doing its own thing — and honestly, I’m here for it.

But we’re not calling it finished yet… 👀

I still need to see how it all comes together once the poly goes down. That’s when the color, depth and grain are really going to come alive.

One more step closer to the reveal.

THE SANDING IS FINALLY OVER. 🙌
BUT THERE’S ONE PROBLEM…

I can see the finish line. I can practically smell the stain.
Unfortunately, I can also smell triple-digit temperatures, so we’re not staining today. 🥵

The sanding is DONE. Like… actually DONE. 😂

Final buff with 100 grit and then came the part nobody talks about: THE GREAT SAWDUST EXORCISM.

Sweep. Vacuum. Tack cloth. Sweep again. Vacuum again. Question whether there is possibly ONE microscopic speck of dust left… and then vacuum again. 😂

Because when it’s time to stain, I want these floors CLEAN CLEAN.

And I’m ready to stain…

Except Mother Nature apparently has other plans. 🥵

We’re talking triple-digit temperatures, which means it’s way too hot to properly ventilate for the fumes from the stain and polyurethane.

So now I’m impatiently waiting for the weather to cooperate.

Four days of sanding and I’m finally at the fun part—and now I have to WAIT. 😩

To be continued… because these floors are about to get their glow-up.

I CAN FINALLY SEE THE FINISH LINE. 👀

Sanding Day 4 and this floor is officially starting to look like a floor again. 😂

Today I replaced the boards with water damage and finished the edge sanding. And the good news? Once that initial finish is finally gone, the sanding goes SO much faster.

The first few days felt like I was sanding for an eternity. But now I’m in the home stretch.

Next up: touch-ups → final sand → STAIN. 🙌

And THAT is when we’re going to find out what these original floors are really capable of.

Follow along because the final reveal is going to be worth all this dust. ✨

APPARENTLY THIS IS MY VERSION OF GETTING DOLLED UP. 😂

No cute outfit.
No perfect hair.
No pretending I’m not covered in sawdust.

When I’m using power tools, I’m not dressing for the camera. I’m dressing to GET. S**T. DONE.

It’s messy. It’s sweaty. It’s loud. And there is approximately 47 pounds of sawdust currently attached to me.

But the bonus?
SAWDUST = DRY SHAMPOO.

And baby… LOOK 👏 AT 👏 THAT 👏 VOLUME. 😂💁‍♀️

Real women play with power tools.
We get dirty.
We make a mess.
We don’t need to look cute while doing it.

Although… sometimes the accidental sexy is pretty damn good. 😏

Cute is optional. Capability is not.

DAY 3: SO. MUCH. SANDING. 😩

I had a little fantasy that I’d sand these floors and be done in a couple of days.

😂😂😂

Reality check: 800 square feet later and I’m STILL SANDING.

But! I finally got the old finish off throughout all the rooms, which means we can actually see what we’re dealing with.

And… she has some baggage. 😬

Staining. Water damage. Dark spots. Questionable areas that are definitely going to require some negotiating with the sanding gods.

Some of it will sand out. Some of it probably won’t.

The first level of grit has taken the longest, and I STILL have the entire perimeter to edge after I get through the remaining levels of sanding.

So yes… this is taking WAY longer than expected.

But I’m finally starting to see that beautiful little glimmer at the end of the tunnel.

And honestly? After three days of dust, noise, sweat and questioning my life choices…

I’ll take it. 😂
