Restaurant-Quality Lo Mein Sauce Recipe
Ingredients:
1/4 cup soy sauce
2 tablespoons oyster sauce
1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
1 tablespoon sesame oil
1 tablespoon rice vinegar
1 tablespoon sugar
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional for heat)
2 tablespoons water (or chicken broth for more flavor)
1 teaspoon cornstarch (optional, for thickening)
Instructions:
Combine the Ingredients:
In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, sesame oil, rice vinegar, and sugar.
Add the garlic powder, ground ginger, and crushed red pepper flakes (if using). Stir well to combine all ingredients.
Add the Liquid:
Slowly stir in the water or chicken broth to the sauce mixture, ensuring all the ingredients are fully incorporated.
Thicken (Optional):
If you'd like a thicker sauce, mix the cornstarch with a small amount of water (about 1 tablespoon) to create a slurry.
Slowly add the slurry to the sauce while stirring and cook over medium heat until the sauce thickens, which should take 1-2 minutes.
Taste and Adjust:
Taste the sauce and adjust the seasoning as needed. If you prefer it sweeter, add a little more sugar. For extra saltiness, add a pinch more soy sauce.
Serve:
Toss the sauce with cooked Lo Mein noodles, sautΓ©ed vegetables, and protein like chicken, beef, shrimp, or tofu. Serve immediately.
Serving Tips:
This sauce works wonderfully for stir-fried noodles, as a topping for fried rice, or as a dipping sauce for dumplings.
For an extra layer of flavor, garnish with chopped green onions, sesame seeds, or fresh cilantro before serving.
This homemade Lo Mein sauce brings the authentic taste of your favorite Chinese restaurant right to your kitchen! Enjoy! π
