After a year hiatus, I finally broke out a paintbrush and tried to find the enjoyment I once had in designing and refinishing furniture. Custom work in the previous year really burned me out and left me feeling a bit deflated.

So almost a year later, I started small with this petite bombe chest pair. I'm not going to lie and say I felt the love come gushing back, but it oozed in there a bit... We'll see if we can fill the cup up again!

It's damn cold in NH right now and my workshop is blocked by a mountain of snow - I have limited access to my tools, supplies and staging. So you get the terrible lighting of evening in my house. Pardon the shadows, background, and overall lack of professionalism.

THIS Saturday! Chichester PTO's craft fair is consistently ranked one of the top vendor fairs in the area, AND it's free so if you're just looking to get out of the house - here's an easy and fun opportunity!

Lots of locally made products and foods, as well as vendors for companies you love. Take the kids shopping for family members, find some great swap presents, or stock up on items for your own home and kitchen - there's something for everyone!

While you're there, grab lunch from our food truck too! It's time to get festive - come out and feel the holiday spirit!

I regret that I didn't get good pictures of this piece, but I truthfully didn't have anywhere large enough for it anyhow! This armoire came already chalk painted by the owner, but it didn't turn out how she had imagined despite her best efforts, so she commissioned me to repaint it. Similar color but different finish - you can see a clear difference in the type of paint!

While I didn't get great before and after pictures, I can show some pictures of the process. I sanded off the previous paint, removed the hinges, filled holes, primed to prevent tannin bleed, and rolled 4 coats. We also changed out the rustic hinges and replaced them with a less obvious hinge that will withstand the weight of the heavy doors and prevent them from becoming uneven over time. Hardware will be determined at a later date.

This color is Basilisk Black by Melange One. It looks black or charcoal relative to what it's next too. It's a pretty color and I definitely plan to use this on future pieces!

Per usual I've been in a lot of different directions lately. After being at the same job for 18 years straight out of college, I find I have a bit of career ADD now. The truth is, I like A LOT of things and I really enjoy learning new fields of work, so I just keep my plate full so I never get bored of one thing.

Did you know besides furniture refinishing, I also substitute teach at our local school? I'm also president of our PTO and clerk for our school district. So there's never a dull moment, but some weeks leave me less time to work on furniture projects than others.

In the fall of last year I started another job doing some admin work for my sister-in-law's real estate brokerage. That led me to getting my real estate license at the end of 2023. So now I'm a REALTOR ® as well - because why not learn something new?

I'm still here for your refinishing needs, but now I'm also here if you're looking to buy or sell your home! (Plus I'm pretty darn good at staging! 😉) You might see a random real estate plug from me once in a while - it's bound to happen. Please keep me in mind if you're in New Hampshire and want to talk about the possibilities!
