Today is the last day of my show, “719 Alleys & Oddities,” at Auric Gallery in Colorado Springs.

I want to thank you all from the bottom of my heart for all the love and support. Your support helps me keep making art, and honestly, that’s what it’s all about for me. I love sharing stories through my canvases, finding the beauty in the everyday, and connecting with all of you through my work.

A huge thank you to Abby and Gundi for giving my art a home in your beautiful gallery. Colorado Springs is a brighter place because of you both. Thank you for building community, supporting artists, and sharing your love of art with this city.

And, of course, thank you to my family. I truly couldn’t do any of this without you believing in me. Thank you for always being behind me, encouraging me, and sharing in my passion.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by the show, bought a piece, shared a post, told a friend, or simply took the time to look at my work. It means more than you know.

"Bijou Alley"

This was the last piece I completed for my show, 719 Alleys & Oddities, at Auric Gallery in Colorado Springs.

In the early 2000s, I spent a lot of time walking through this alley. I worked for several years at Hathaway’s Magazine & To***co Store, and every day I would take the deposit down this alley.

I’ve watched this alley change over the years, but one of my favorite parts has remained the same: reaching the end of the block, looking down into the next, and wondering what’s waiting to be seen.

There’s something about alleys that has always fascinated me. They’re often overlooked—quiet spaces between the places we’re actually headed. But if you slow down and look, they hold a lot of history.

Bijou Alley is a little piece of that history for me.

"Cheyenne Mountain Zoo Carousel"

First built in 1926, this carousel was featured in a Chicago Fair in 1933 and was then acquired by Spencer Penrose in 1937.
The carousel features 20 wooden horses and 2 chariots.
Of all of the paintings for my show, this one took the longest. I worked on it off and on for a very long time.

"Pioneer"
The view of of The Pioneer Museum is always inspiring. A year or so ago I was taking pictures of the King Chef Diner when I noticed the alley and back parking lots next door. The mixture of industrial framed by the beauty of the Pioneer Museum instantly inspired me for this painting. I love finding inspiration in places you were not expecting to. It makes me excited to paint and continue to wander and explore.

"The Garden"
24" x 30"
Oil on canvas

When gathering images to paint for a show I do seek places out intently but I prefer to be inspired when walking or traveling around the city.

The image for this painting came one such day walking through The Garden of the Gods Park and the Rock Ledge Ranch Historic Site last summer. It was a very wet summer that made everything green. The early afternoon clouds were rolling in and the last of the day's blue sky was fading in the back.
