A chimney leak is rarely a simple problem. Water can enter through several different points — the cap, the flashing at the roofline, the crown, or the masonry itself — and identifying the correct source requires a thorough on-site evaluation, not a quote from the ground.

Here are a few signs that your chimney may be letting water in:

Water stains on the ceiling or walls near the fireplace
A musty smell coming from the firebox
White mineral deposits on the exterior brick
Rust on the damper or inside the firebox
Crumbling or receding mortar joints

If any of these sound familiar, it is worth a call before the damage goes further. Chimspector evaluates every potential entry point before recommending a repair, and every fix is done with the goal of resolving the problem permanently.

Last week we had the privilege of attending Camp CUI. It was an amazing two day event filled with groundbreaking product booths, great classes, delicious food, and a fellowship you never thought you would find in the fireplace industry.

It was really cool to see exactly where a lot of our products come from and to understand the process that takes place after we click "checkout". We heard from multiple people that this was the best event they had been to in over 20 years in the industry, and it was easy to see why.

We look forward to the next CUI Camp, and we thank all of the vendors and companies that help put this event together, it was one of a kind.

A before and after comparison highlights how a well designed fireplace can update a space while maintaining structural integrity and efficient operation. Careful installation also ensures that all components meet current standards and perform reliably over time.

Moisture intrusion can often times be found in concealed areas, such as the attic or the crawlspace. Water finds its way in through uncapped flues, deteriorated mortar joints, and failed flashing. Once it is in, it does not just stop.

A full coverage chimney cap keeps water, debris, and animals out of the flue. Professional waterproofing seals the masonry and stops moisture from penetrating the brick. Together they are the best protection your chimney can have. Our caps carry a Forever Warranty and our waterproofing is backed by a 10-Year Full Warranty.

With a bunch of rain ahead of us in the forecast, now is a perfect time to go take a look and make sure you're all sealed up.

Give us a call at 803-602-5929 or visit our website, we would love to help keep you dry!

Water intrusion is a common cause of chimney deterioration. Over time, moisture can enter small cracks in masonry, leading to expansion, weakening, and visible damage. Waterproofing creates a protective barrier that helps limit water pe*******on while still allowing the chimney to vent properly. This added layer of protection can extend the life of the structure and help reduce the likelihood of more extensive repairs in the future.

Fire damage can affect more than what is immediately visible. Heat, smoke, and soot can impact structural materials, air quality, and surrounding surfaces throughout the home. Professional restoration services assess the full scope of the damage, including hidden areas, to determine what can be cleaned, repaired, or replaced. A thorough evaluation helps ensure the space is safely restored and ready for continued use.

Nearly 3,000 home fires per year are caused by clogged dryer vents. Not faulty machines, but the lint buildup itself.

A clogged vent forces your dryer to work harder/run longer, costing you money and shortening the life of the machine. Most people replace their dryer thinking it is worn out, when the real problem is behind the dryer.

Signs that are commonly ignored are clothes taking more than one cycle to dry, a burning smell while running, the dryer feeling hot, or the vent flap not opening.

If any of that sounds familiar, give us a call or visit our website.
