Question: How is California carrying the country when it comes to food safety?

I’ve been saying this for YEARS.

Maybe we should stop targeting a certain demographic of people’s food,

And before somebody says, “But everybody eats Takis...”

Sure. They sell Takis in Europe too.

They just don’t make them the same way.

U.S. Takis Fuego: Red 40 + Yellow 6.
European Takis Fuego: beetroot, radish, apple, blackcurrant + paprika extract.

Same snack. Different standard.

AI listened to my doctor’s appointment today. 👀

Yep. During my routine primary care visit, my provider used AI to listen to our conversation and assist with her clinical documentation.

Convenient? Absolutely.
But as a patient, I immediately thought: Where does that recording go?

AI is already entering everyday healthcare, so know what to ask:

• Is this being recorded or stored?
• Who has access to it?
• How is my health information protected?
• Can I decline?

AI in healthcare isn’t coming. It’s already here.

Awareness matters. 💡

🚨 Medical Monday: What Is Fracking?

"Fracking" (hydraulic fracturing) is a way of extracting oil and natural gas from deep underground.

A mixture of water, sand, and chemicals is pumped into rock at very high pressure, creating tiny cracks that allow the oil and gas to flow to the surface.

Why does it matter? Researchers are studying whether living near large-scale fracking operations may affect health, particularly for pregnant women and children.

Nearly 3,000 acres of land in Ohio’s only national forest will be auctioned for fracking in September.

We talk a lot about getting answers. We don't talk enough about being able to afford them.

My allergies have become more bothersome. I finally sought a treatment plan.

Then reality hit.

Nearly $900 after insurance for one office visit.

About $80 every month for daily allergy medications.

An emergency epinephrine medication priced between $200 and $300, depending on the formulation.

Suddenly, treatment wasn't a medical decision. It became a financial one.

As a RN, I know I'm not alone. Every day, patients leave prescriptions at the pharmacy or delay treatment, not because they don't care about their health, but because they simply can't afford it.
