I’ve been struggling to stay consistent with my health goals.

This little guy seems to always want me. He is a bit more clingy than my oldest was at his age.

I’d see those other moms exercising with their babies and think it wasn’t something that would work for us.

But, what I learned recently is he is actually entertained by watching me move and exercise.

Like he thinks I’m playing with him!

So, if you are in despair, winding how you are ever going to start working on your health.

Stop thinking about what could go wrong and give it a try.

Your little one might just surprise you. ❤️

Some people can jump right into things and make changes. Others need to build habits slowly. If you’re the latter, don’t be hard on yourself, just figure out what works for you.
Build habits slowly taking each day (or week) one day at a time.

It can be as simple as just putting your gym clothes on everyday for a week.

Then the following week doing one exercise and building on each week.

I often start with the treadmill, because I enjoy zoning out into my own thoughts while listening to music. I don’t have to worry about counting or tripping over something (if outside.)

Once I’ve worked up to a mile on the treadmill, I start adding in one exercise like “fire hydrants” or “planks”.

And add to it, until I have a solid routine.

If you prefer workout videos but 40 minutes is just too long to start, start with just 5 minutes and work up.

You’ve got this!

Since becoming pregnant my energy level has dwindled a bit, so making meals from scratch just hasn’t been as much of a priority.

Thats why I really love this Kodiak pancake mix. It’s not (if you know you know) because the ingredients aren’t organic, but it has minimal ingredients. So, if you’re not wanting to whip up pancakes from scratch I think it’s a great alternative with little sugar (at least in comparison,) minimal ingredients, and high protein.

I didn’t have any fresh berries, so I heated up about a cup or more of frozen berries, in a saucepan over medium heat, with a tablespoon of chia seeds; while the pancakes were cooking.

Topped pancakes with berries, a little maple syrup, and almonds. YUM!

I took a food sensitivity test a few weeks ago.

According to it I’m sensitive to gluten, dairy, apples, soy, salmon, caramel color, and xantham gum.

So I ran to Whole Foods looking for some gluten free snacks and dairy free items.

Particular on the hunt for my favorite dairy products, but a dairy free version.

While there I found Almond MALK (almond milk without the huge list of additives.)

And some dairy free cream cheese and whipped cream.

And I found some purely Elizabeth products I can’t find at my usual shopping location.

I’m not saying I agree with the food sensitivity test, but I do believe in having an open mind.

And so I’m willing to try, at the very least, reducing the items that I’m supposedly sensitive to and seeing if it helps my health.

Particularly in the area of inflammation and brain fog.

Do you have any food sensitivities? What symptoms do you have?

I’ve been making my own peanut butter. Free from added oils and sugar.

I buy these dry roasted peanuts from Amazon that contain no added oils.

I use an old peanut butter jar to keep my peanut butter in.

Using the jar I pour two full jars of peanuts into my blender and add 1/4 tsp Celtic salt.

When I first started making homemade peanut butter I didn’t add the salt, but I strongly feel I started gaining other health issues (heart palpitations) because I wasn’t getting enough salt.

Since doing some research salt is necessary for the body, problem is we use too much table salt (little minerals) instead of using Celtic or Himalayan salt; both of which have more than 70 minerals, many of which are important keeping water absorb as opposed to it flushing too quickly through our body. (Watch Barbara O’Neal YouTube “salt and water”)

Anyway, blend the roasted nuts and salt (optional) in a blender until smooth and pour into jar.

Easy peasy :)

🍓 Healthier strawberry donuts

My soon to be kindergarten was a bit upset that we decided not to go to the strawberry festival since he overheard me telling his daddy about strawberry donuts.

So I promised him I’d make him strawberry donuts.

But, now and days I always try to make a healthier version of things 😂

Both the kids were happy with the results. The oldest said they were soft.

I kind of think they tasted like a grab and go pancake 😂 take that as you wish.

Next time though, I think I’ll skip the almond extract and increase the cardamom to 1 tsp (I like cardamom.)

Recipe:
Combine dry ingredients
🍓 1 3/4 whole wheat flour
🍓 2 tsp baking powder
🍓 1/2 tsp cardamom
Separate bowl (wet ingredients)
🍓 1/2 cup milk
🍓 1/2 cup Greek yogurt
🍓 2 eggs
🍓 2 Tbs olive oil
🍓 2 tsp vanilla extract
🍓 1 tsp almond extract
🍓 1/3 cup maple syrup
🍓 1 cup chopped strawberries (hulled)

Mix wet ingredients into dry ingredients. Grease donut pans and fill batter to almost top.

Bake at 350 for 16 minutes. Dust with powdered sugar (I used swerve powdered sugar)
*makes 12-13

Trying out some “healthier” lower sugar snacks I haven’t made yet.

Peanut clusters: about a half bag of Lilly’s chocolate chips melted with 1/2 Tbs coconut oil. Add in about a cup of peanuts (I measured with my heart until it appeared the right ratio of nuts and chocolate that I was going for.). Spoof onto parchment paper, sprinkle with sea salt flakes (optional,) and freeze until hard enough to pick up (about 10 minutes.). These are what I needed in my life! Instead of buying the expensive candy bars.
Perfect for movie night. 🍿

Dr livingood donuts: google search dr livingood healthy donuts. I dusted ours with serve powdered sugar and cinnamon. They fall apart very easily but the little LOVED them! I’d make them again. But I’d pair with eggs next time.

Getting a healthier morning routine summer start…

I’m not always an outdoors fan, but I’m making it a point this summer to make eating breakfast outside a part of my routine (Day 1,)

…to get extra vitamin D (a very important micronutrient needed for optimal heart health.)

And my husband found these oat packets Purely Elizabeth, that have l as sugar than other brands and are made with simpler ingredients.

I used one packet of banana oat and one packet of cinnamon, topped with 4 diced strawberries, drizzled about a tablespoon of peanut butter, and sprinkled h**p hearts. 😋

What are some of your healthy plans for the summer?

“You’re not you when your hungry” -Snickers

Trying to eat healthier? Try this viral trend where you take medjool dates (pitted) and place a bit of peanut butter and and almond inside.

Some then dip in sugar free melted chocolate and cool until the chocolate firsts; so it’s like a candy bar.

I never have time for that 😂 so I sprinkle with sugar free chocolate chips.

It doesn’t taste exactly like a Snickers (like some say) but if you close your eyes it’s pretty close.

And it hits all the feels to satisfy.

Just be careful; these babies are still pretty high in calories. 😬 and natural sugar.

Have you tried this trend yet?
