I was born in Cantanhede, Portugal. At the young age of 4, my parents decided to move to the United States to offer a better future for their two daughters. At the age of 10, I was diagnosed with Chronic Renal Failure. My mom donated her kidney back in March 1, 1995 and saved my life. My kidney lasted an amazing 17 years. This year on March 7th, my fiancées mother donated her kidney through The Na
tional Kidney Registry so I could receive a second kidney transplant. this kidney only lasted 2 1/2 months months. Everything was going well until I was ordered to have an angiogram. A stent was placed in the renal artery and a few days later blocked the blood flow to the kidney. My kidney was removed on May 26, 2012. I am lucky to be alive. Now, I am back on dialysis three times a week and my whole life has changed. Coming from a musically inclined family, my sister Isabel and I always turned to music and art for comfort and distraction. Isabel was blessed with the voice of an angel and pursued her God given talent. My diverse talents ranged from singing, ballroom dancing, and now my new adoration, handmade jewelry. I began my artisan journey about two years ago in 2009. I started creating jewelry to cope with the loss of my job, illness and help pay for medical bills. What was merely a hobby grew into a passion and Paulita Jewelry was born. “Paulita” is a nickname that is usually associated with the name Paula, meaning small, or little. It is a name used by close friends and family members to represent their love, affection and loyalty. Paulita Jewelry creates one of a kind handmade jewelry, combining vintage Swarovski elements, precious/semi precious stones, renewable, reused, recycled and natural materials. Paula spends an enormous amount of time searching to find the right balance of colors, shapes and textures for every piece. Paulita Jewelry line's tasteful and timeless designs seduce the imagination and reflect life’s moods, milestones and naturistic wonders. Every piece is specifically customized for any occasion. All proceeds go toward Paula’s medical expenses and finding a kidney donor. Thank you for your support.
