I often underestimate how capable you are of everything you set your mind to, with laser-sharp focus and attention to every detail. Day 30: The Finish Line No One Expected 😔

Today is Day 30, the day we were supposed to move in. We spent 30 days racing against the clock, obsessing over finishes and deadlines, but on the final day, my heart is heavy 😔

With an emergency crisis threatening our old neighborhood and both of our families on the brink of displacement, the joy of a finished renovation has been replaced by quiet angst.

We are at the finish line of the but we aren’t celebrating. Today’s video isn’t about the reveal, it’s our reality today.

Thank you for taking this journey with me. I will find a new auspicious date that allows my family to feel more grounded and settled into our new home 🏡💫 It isn’t over. We’re just taking a beat and waiting things out.

Day 28: Stop the Renovation. We are in FULL CRISIS MODE 🚨 

It’s Day 28 of our 30-day renovation and what was supposed to be a cool, calm collected weekend move turned into this!!

Our city is under a chemical threat, our friends and family are all told to evacuate and the renovation is the last thing on my mind. My contractors, our movers, the entire team, we’re all in the same boat.

If you’re in the threat area, please stay safe out there! Right now the only thing that matters is keeping my family together.

Thank you for being here with us through the most difficult Day 28 imaginable. I’ll update you all as I know more. I have zero idea what’s about to happen in the next 24 hours, but it doesn’t look good.

Day 26: 96 HOURS LEFT: Organizing Chaos You Don’t See 🛠️

It’s Day 26 of the race and while the jobsite may look calm, I feel like a hot mess. Between last-minute plumbing adjustments, missing fixtures and makeshift cabinet installations, we are keeping it moving.

This is what it actually looks like to build a dream on a deadline. Trust, surrender, and... drink a lot of coffee. ☕✨

Day 23: Pivot or Panic? 🫨 Dealing with Delays & Budget Cuts

It’s Day 23 and we move in exactly 7 days. I’m still not 100%, but the renovation clock isn’t stopping. 

Losing almost 2 weeks of project management to a family-wide flu wasn’t in the master plan, but neither were these cabinet delays. However, the down time did give me the space to finalize the appliances and upgrade the electrical plan before our big move. 

It’s easy to let a fever or a budget cut slow you down, but you have the power to choose a different mindset.

Battery: 40%. Vision: 💯
Tonight we rest, tomorrow we grind 💪💪💪

Day 21: Renovation Burnout is Real 😔 Choosing Rest & Celebrating Small Wins

I’m not gonna lie, I feel like I’m coming down with something so we’re just going to focus on progress, not setbacks.

It’s Day 21 and I’m hitting a bit of a wall. I can feel my body telling me to slow down, so today isn’t about the big moves—it’s about the tiny wins that help us find calm in the chaos. 

While I’m taking a moment to recharge, my husband has been spearheading our tech upgrades.

The interior design is my forte, the smart home features, that’s all him.

The real relief? These recessed cable boxes. Seeing those tangled wires and bulky equipment disappear is such a weight off my shoulders. It’s the clean, minimalist finish I’ve dreamed of for years. 

Sometimes, celebrating a small ✨win✨ is the best way to heal.

Renovations are a marathon, I need to listen to my body today and taking a beat to rest is just as important as the progress itself.

Day 20: My Secret to a “Seamless” Sink Look 🤫 Is Silgranit actually worth the hype?

Welcome back to the 30-day renovation race! We are 10 days from move-in and today I’m telling you why I choose Silgranit over and over.

The PROS:
It’s 80% natural stone, non-porous, heat, scratch and stain resistant. I want a sink that disappears into my slab without the cost of custom fabrication. and with so many colors to choose from, you can create a pretty seamless high design countertop look.

There are quite CONS so buyer beware! Every time I hear someone complain about their Silgranit sink, I know it’s because of user error 😆

If you want pretty and practical, Silgranit can’t be beat! Is this something you’d specify for  your own kitchen?

The Inspiration: I just finished bingeing Pursuit of Jade on Netflix, and I’ve been completely mesmerized by the spectacular set design.

As a designer of Chinese descent myself, it made me look around my own home to realize I’ve been sitting on a goldmine of my own history.
