Well, this sucks!! I started with this company 8 years ago with my mom. Mom has since quite when she moved to Florida, a couple of years ago, to take care of my dad after he received his LVAD! Although its an MLM company, (yes I know people hate them and how they feel about them and all the details there are about them) we didn’t join it to try to make a ton of money, or to be one of those annoying pushy people, or to try to recruit people. The only quota they required of us was to buy $100 worth of mixes every 6 months. We did it mostly because we loved selling at the flea markets and craft shows and just meeting people in general! Plus, and I am not just saying this because I sold the mixes nor was it required of me to say, but their mixes truly were delicious and I made them often just for the hubby and I. I have a show tomorrow and I just paid for a show in the spring, that willbe my last 2 shows, selling mixes with this company. Not sure what I will do with my same fall shows that I have done for the last 8 years but will continue going to the Hartville Flea Market to sell stuff from the house and my jewelry!!
This was posted from Melissa Holmes the owner of The Gourmet Cupboard
It is with deep sadness and an incredibly heavy heart that we share the news of The Gourmet Cupboard’s upcoming closure. This was NOT a decision we reached lightly.
Over the past few years, we have watched business steadily decline while the cost of everything continued to rise. From increasing supply prices and growing regulatory requirements to ongoing website challenges, we have truly done everything within our power to stay afloat. We held onto hope that this fall season would turn things around, but unfortunately, it did not. For quite some time now, we have been putting far more into the business than we have been able to get back out of it.
Adding to this, our website has continued to present ongoing issues. After speaking with our web team last week, we were informed that repairs were no longer an option and that a completely new website would soon be required. Given the significant investment we already made, rebuilding simply was not financially possible. That reality made it clear that it was time to close this chapter.
We plan to remain open through the end of January, giving you plenty of time to stock up on your favorite mixes before we close. As ingredients are depleted, sold-out mixes will be removed from our website.
We will also be offering spices, seasonings, and some of our unique blends and ingredients for sale under a Clearancecategory. These items will be available in ½-cup increments and priced lower than purchasing them individually at the grocery store. You may also see cotton candy powders and various specialty blends we use in our mixes, so please keep an eye out for those as well.
What has made these 23 years so meaningful is you. Through this little business, we have made lifelong friends, and we will forever cherish the relationships, support, and memories we’ve built along the way.
My mom, JuJu, and I built The Gourmet Cupboard from the ground up 23 years ago. It has truly been my “baby,” and I have loved every single minute of this journey. I’ve poured my heart and soul into this business, so please know just how devastating this decision has been for us.
Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for being such an important part of our story.
With love and gratitude,
Melissa
