What is a Groover?
Short Version: Groovers are modern art glass creations and ornaments portraying dancing, everyday activities like fishing/yoga/sports and also animals. They are happy, colorful and vibrant!
Long Story: They are art glass creations that come together as they are supposed to. I start with the selvage pieces cut from previous projects. Begin with an interesting shape and build from there. For example, say I have a piece with a long edge that has a 45 degree angle with a curve at the end. I go look to my pieces and, 99% of the time, find the exact piece I need to puzzle piece in. Originally, I seemed to always create these happy little dancers… so full of life and joy…. thus, the name “Groovers.” I’ve since expanded to include sports, animals, hobbies, etc. Even now, rather than cutting pieces to fit my design, I cut many random pieces and add them to the array of glass so that I can choose existing pieces as I build vs cutting an exact piece when I need it. That may sound crazy, but I like the flow and connection of finding the exact right piece when I need it, like it’s just waiting for me to find it to become a part of what it’s supposed to be. gift
