Crown for Babalu Aye Osunegue 🐦⬛🪶♥️🖤
•In the Lucumí and Arará traditions, Babalu Aye (also known as Asojano or San Lázaro) is one of the most revered and feared Orishas. He is the master of the earth, infectious diseases, and the miraculous secrets of healing.
The specific path of Osunegue (sometimes spelled Osun Egüe) is known as a deeply mystical and “heavy” manifestation.
Below are some of the many characteristics of this path:
•The Witchdoctor (Brujo): While all paths of Babalu Aye deal with healing, Osunegue is specifically characterized as a sorcerer or herbalist. He possesses profound knowledge of the “secrets of the woodlands” (el monte) and uses herbs and specific incenses to both cure and protect.
•Vultures (Aura Tiñosa): In this path, vultures are his constant companions and messengers. They represent the cleansing of the earth and the cycle of death and rebirth.
•The Solitary Wanderer: Osunegue is a path of isolation. He is often depicted walking in the heat of the sun with his dogs, avoiding the “civilized” world.
•The Staff and Broom: He carries a Ja (a broom made of palm ribs) to sweep away illness and a rustic wooden staff or crutch to support his lame leg.
