My Major Takeaways from the Fireside Chat with Tamron Hall
“Bet on yourself.”
Don’t be afraid to fail.
Trust yourself, trust the process, and don’t underestimate the power of getting into your prayer closet.
Recognize who you are, with or without a title.
Your identity and value are not defined by the title under your name. Show up as your authentic self.
Help people who don’t share your DNA.
Be a resource to others. Support, encourage, and create opportunities for people beyond your immediate circle.
Be okay with the current version of yourself.
Embrace who you are today while continuing to grow into who you are becoming.
Things aren’t always happening to you, they may be happening for you.
Learn to become comfortable with change. Sometimes the unexpected shift is preparing you for what’s next.
The goalpost is invisible.
There isn’t one predetermined definition of success. Your journey can evolve, and so can your goals.
Resilience and happiness are badges of honor.
There is strength in overcoming challenges while still choosing joy.
The “Pet to Threat” philosophy.
Sometimes you can go from being celebrated to being perceived as a threat when you begin challenging expectations, speaking up, or stepping fully into your power. Don’t allow that shift in perception to diminish who you are.
Code-switching will always exist.
Learning how to navigate different spaces is part of the journey, but it doesn’t mean losing your authentic voice in the process.
My biggest takeaway:
Bet on yourself, embrace change, remain authentic, be a resource to others, and never allow someone else’s perception of you to determine your value.
