Good taste isn’t something you’re either born with or you’re not.

It develops slowly—through paying attention to the rooms you love, the clothes you reach for, the books you keep, the restaurants you remember, and the details you’re naturally drawn to.

Instead of simply thinking, “I like that,” start asking yourself why.

The more you notice those patterns, the easier it becomes to understand your own style—and make decisions with a little more confidence.

This is the first in a series about developing your eye, defining your style, and choosing well.

I’ve been in a bit of a creative funk lately, and this weeks Substack post is about the small, ordinary things that have helped my find my way back. From watering my herb garden and learning French to solo cafe afternoons and, oddly enough, eating a plum. Read the full post on Flowers on the Table. Link in bio and stories!

It’s a look inside my design process and the belief that hospitality is found in the little things.

In the week’s Book Club, I’m sharing a vintage decorating book I found and why I think I’m more drawn to 90’s interiors than I ever realized. Part one explores finding your decorating style, creating homes that support the way you actually live, and a reminder that good design has always been less about trends and more about living well.

Most living rooms don’t need a renovation — they need better balance.

Too-small rugs, awkward layouts, harsh lighting, furniture spacing, missing texture, nowhere to set down a cup of coffee. These are usually the things making a room feel “off” without you even realizing it.

I shared the biggest living room mistakes I see (and how I fix them) in my newest Substack post. Link in bio.
