Hello Fiber Friends! I’m Katie from Sleek Spincraft. I’m SO excited to finally introduce myself—and my spindles—to this amazing spinning community!
I live in beautiful Central Oregon and have been a hand spinner for the past 18 years. I learned to spin on a Majacraft Rose and quickly fell down the rabbit hole (pun intended!) of wheels… buying them, refurbishing them, and bringing them back to life for other spinners.
For about 10 years I also raised German Angora rabbits and ran High Desert Fiberworks, where I processed and sold angora fiber and fine sheep wools both online and at local fiber events. Fiber has been woven into my life and I love it!
Around 2019, I took a deep dive into the wonderful world of spindles, exploring every style I could get my hands on. Supported spindles completely stole my heart—they fit the way I spin and types of yarn I prefer to make.
After realizing how tough it could be to get my hands on truly exceptional supported spindles, I decided to try making my own. Great makers usually have a high demand for their spindles and you must have lightening quick fingers to purchase one when they get released.
Turns out things that spin fiber and things that turn on a lathe both bring me great joy. 😁 Now I’m hooked on both spinning yarn and turning wood and I’m excited to share that passion with you through Sleek Spincraft.
I’ve worked hard to create designs that feel uniquely mine. My signature “stiletto” spinning tip, paired with a smooth, glassy finish gives my spindles their unique look and feel. Most of my supported spindles weigh between 17–26 grams, and range from 10.5" to 11"—balanced, fast, and a joy to spin.
I truly hope you enjoy the look, feel, and performance of my spindles and other fiber tools. Please feel free to reach out any time—I love chatting about fiber, spinning tools, and all things that make yarn happen. 💕
Nice to meet you all!
