A photo landed in our messages, and it did a lot more than say hello.

A customer sent us a picture of their Champion yard sign standing tall in the front yard.

"That mulch is wonderful... I really appreciate your service. It is such a worthy cause." 📢

Marsha ordered some mulch, set a Champion yard sign in her front lawn, and then sent us a photo of it along with a note.

It's such a simple gesture that means the world to us.♥️

What Marsha is talking about is our yard sign program. When you put a Champion sign in your yard, you are helping us support Ronald McDonald House Charities Dayton and the families who lean on it while a child is in treatment.

This month, Chad Miller and the crew at Millco Lawn Services are pitching in. For every photo of a Champion sign that gets posted and tagged, Millco donates $1 to RMHC Dayton.

Before May ends, we want to give a heartfelt thank you to Justin and Jason Rockwell and the entire team at Snowmowman for sponsoring this month's yard sign campaign in support of Ronald McDonald House Charities Dayton.❤️

As May comes to a close, we just want to say thank you.😍

Thank you for going grey with us. For putting yard signs out. For donating directly to RMHC Dayton. For sharing our posts, asking questions, and caring about kids you've never met.

The reason Champion goes grey every May starts with a little girl named Maddy, Matt's niece, who was diagnosed with brain cancer before her first birthday. She's in first grade now. Cancer-free. Thriving. And she is the reason this month means something to us.

This year, your support goes to Ronald McDonald House Charities Dayton which provides free housing and meals for families with sick children right here in our community.

Families who drove hours to get here. Families who can't go home yet. Families who need exactly the kind of support you helped make possible.

Even though Brain Cancer Awareness Month ends tomorrow, the work doesn't.

"Interwoven is the love of liberty with every ligament of the heart." George Washington, Farewell Address, 1796

Those words are carved into stone at Calvary Cemetery in Dayton.

There is something about standing in a soldier's cemetery that slows everything down.

The flags placed at each headstone, one by one.

The quiet.

The weight of it.

It is hard to walk away without being changed.

These are not names from history books.
These are neighbors.
Sons and daughters.
People from right here in Southwest Ohio.

Washington wrote that line in 1796 as both a warning and a charge to the nation he helped build.

Liberty, he said, is not separate from the people who hold it.

It lives in them.

And when they are gone, something irreplaceable goes with them.

Memorial Day is a day to stop, to look, and to remember the cost of the freedom we carry into every ordinary day.

Champion Mulch and Landscape Supply is a small business in Southwest Ohio.

We dig in the dirt for a living.

Today, we stopped to remember why we can.

To every Gold Star family, to every veteran who stands where a friend no longer can, and to everyone who will visit a grave this weekend: thank you.

To the families who are missing someone today: we see you.

Grateful does not begin to cover it.

We will not forget.
