**FRIDAY — What Would You Splurge On? ✈️**

If you had a set vacation budget and could only splurge on **ONE** thing, what would it be?

✈️ Better flights or upgraded seats
🏨 A nicer hotel or resort
🍽️ Really good food and drinks
🎟️ Experiences, tours and activities
🚢 A better cabin or room category
💆 Spa time or something extra relaxing

I think this says a lot about how people like to travel.

Some people barely care about the hotel because they’re never in it.

Others want the room to feel like part of the vacation.

Some will happily fly economy if it means they can spend more once they arrive.

There really isn’t one “right” way to spend a travel budget.

The goal is figuring out what matters most **to you** and putting the money there.

Here’s something I wish more travelers knew:

**Don’t automatically book the cheapest flight you see.**

Before you decide it’s the best deal, look at what that fare actually includes.

Does it include:

🧳 A checked bag?
💺 Seat selection?
🔄 The ability to change the flight?
⏰ A reasonable departure time?
🛬 A decent connection — or are you spending half your vacation in an airport?

Sometimes spending a little more upfront gives you a MUCH better trip.

And sometimes the cheapest fare really is the best choice.

The important part is knowing what you’re buying before you click.

That’s one of the things I look at when I’m helping my clients compare their options — not just the number at the bottom of the screen.

A lot of people assume a trip to Europe is automatically more expensive than a Florida theme park vacation.

But let’s actually compare.

Here’s a SAMPLE **5-day/4-night trip for TWO adults from Boston in mid-October.**

🎢 **POPULAR FLORIDA THEME PARK GETAWAY**

✈️ Round-trip Boston–Orlando flights: about **$360 total**
🏨 4 nights at a moderate resort: about **$1,500**
🎟️ 4 days of theme park tickets for two: about **$1,100–$1,300**

**Estimated total: $2,960–$3,160**

🇮🇪 **DUBLIN, IRELAND**

✈️ Round-trip **NONSTOP** Boston–Dublin flights: about **$1,260 total**
🏨 4 nights at a centrally located moderate hotel: about **$860**
🌊 Cliffs of Moher tour for two: about **$175**
📚 Trinity College + Book of Kells for two: about **$90**

**Estimated total: about $2,385**

So yes — a trip to Ireland can actually come in **several hundred dollars less** than a popular Florida theme park vacation, even with nonstop flights and a couple of major experiences included.

Of course, prices change and every trip is different.

But the point is this:

**Don’t automatically assume Europe is out of your budget.**

That “someday” trip may be closer than you think. ❤️✈️

✈️ Travel tip: Before automatically booking a flight, compare the entire door-to-door trip.

A one-hour flight can also include:

Driving to the airport → parking → arriving early → security → boarding → baggage → transportation after landing.

Sometimes driving, taking a train or even hopping on a ferry can be easier — especially for a short getaway.

I like to compare:

⏱️ Total travel time
💰 Total transportation cost
🅿️ Parking
🧳 Baggage fees
🚗 Transportation once you arrive
😵 And, yes… hassle

The cheapest-looking option isn't always the cheapest — and the fastest-looking option isn't always the fastest.

Save this one when you're comparing your next trip.

A “QUICK GETAWAY” STILL HAS A LOT OF MOVING PARTS.

A three-night getaway sounds simple… until you start putting it together.

Take Bimini.

It isn’t just:

“Book a hotel and hop on a ferry.”

I’m looking at things like:

Is the ferry schedule actually practical for your dates?
Where should you stay the night before?
How are you getting to the terminal?
Which hotel fits the kind of trip you want?
What activities are worth adding?
How much does the whole trip cost once everything is included?

That’s one of the things I enjoy most about travel planning — taking all those separate pieces and turning them into one trip that actually makes sense.

And yes, I can do the same thing for a Keys weekend, Florida beach escape, theme-park trip or other short getaway. 🌴

One of my favorite Florida getaway ideas technically takes you out of Florida. 😍🌴

Bimini is close enough for a short island escape — and you can get there by ferry instead of flying.

That means you can turn a few days in South Florida into something that feels completely different: clear turquoise water, island time, beaches, snorkeling, waterfront drinks and that “we actually went somewhere” feeling… without planning a full weeklong vacation.

And this is exactly the kind of trip I love putting together:
🌴 Hotel
⛴️ Ferry transportation
🐠 Activities and excursions
🚗 Pre- or post-trip Florida stay if you want one
📋 All the little logistics that make the trip work

That starting price may not include everything you’ll actually want or need.

Before comparing two cruises, remember to check:

✔️ Taxes and port fees
✔️ Gratuities
✔️ Drinks and Wi-Fi
✔️ Specialty dining
✔️ Excursions
✔️ Flights or transportation
✔️ Parking or a pre-cruise hotel
✔️ The cabin category and fare restrictions

A slightly higher fare can sometimes be the better value once everything is included.

Don’t compare the advertisements. Compare the complete trip.
