Local weaver, Kathleen Chapman, brought over a dizzying amount of yarn samples this morning so we could workshop the next batch of hand towels and more. This is one of my favorite things about running a tiny business… the ecosystem of makers, small batch material suppliers, family run fabricators all working together to do what we love.

“Toys are really not as innocent as they look. Toys and games are the preludes to serious ideas.” —Charles Eames. I remind myself of this quote from one of my design heroes and get lost with these little tops when I’m hanging out in the shop. The Komo wooden tops come in different shapes and species all handcrafted individually by Mokkougei Sasahara in Hokkaido, Japan. Summer nights in the valley. Frogs and crickets chirping away to new friends around a table laughing from the belly within minutes of introduction. The simple feast all selected from shops within a few miles and much baked and grown even closer. We consider ourselves very lucky.
