Wedding dress update: wearable*

I did an 11th hour adjustment on the bodice and it fits so well now. I attached the (remarkably heavy) skirt to the muslin interlining and finished the lace overlay for the skirt. The overlay will attach to the top layer of the bodice (not pictured) because the weight of the rest of the skirt will be way too much for it.

I need to make the skirt lining and attach it to the inner layer of the bodice and put together the bodice top layer, then we may just be at the final stretch.

I'm testing an A line crinoline in this photo and I'm not really sure how I feel about it; the weight of the rear half of the skirt is pushing it forward so I need to think more about how I want to handle this.

wedding dress update: I gathered the beaded lace for the overlay of the skirt and I'm unhappy with how bulky it is. I might have to disassemble this and take some of the bulk out, maybe just at the front? I am going to add darts (maybe they qualify as gores idk) to reduce the amount of gathered fabric. Hopefully I feel better about it after!

Wedding dress update

Skirt is hemmed and I started cutting the overlay. I had a slight delay after koda got sick on it, but i managed to clean it up so i don't have to redo it. I've cut most of the lining fabrics and this week I'll be attaching them to each other and then the bodice.

Putting the lining together is weird. I am not doing a train for most of the lining, only one layer attached to the outer train in the rear. its also a weird shape as I'm doing a half circle skirt in the front half (pictured) and then a full circle skirt in the rear; this makes the rear really fabric-heavy on purpose, but its a tricky thing to sew.

Attaching the skirt to the bodice will be odd too. I need to be really careful about how I attach everything and think before I do anything. I suspect I'll attach the top skirt to everything except the back panel, then have hooks/some other fastening and an additional zipper on the rearmost panel to wholly attach the skirt. I don't want some dinky fashion zipper holding the rear skirt up so I am being very careful and deliberate with how it attaches.
