Time to look to your home again
You cleaned your home top to bottom back in April and May when spring finally came. Then summer arrived and you enjoyed the kids, barbecues, late evenings, and days out and about. Now it's time to begin thinking about school and homework and fall sports. It's time again to look to your home, the sweet place that brings you comfort and joy. Let Clock & Corbel help bring goodness, truth, and beauty to your home. Flowers are still here to arrange, along with pictures, pillows, cutting boards, rugs, benches, tea towels, and place settings. Please visit us as you think about something special in your kitchen to brighten your day.

One More Fresh Flower Class this Year!
We are collaborating with Allison Acres Farm once again to offer our final fresh flower class of the year on Wednesday, September 2. Jamie of Allison Acres Farm will bring her fresh flowers and give instruction on how to arrange beautiful bouquets. Each participant will receive a hand-thrown vase from Ends Meet Pottery along with fresh flowers from the farm!

Refreshments will be provided. These classes are a hit, so please sign up early.

Family Meals are a Blessing
A home includes family meals together. Even in this crazy busy world with outdoor play, late summer sports, and summer sunshine, it is worth your time to create beautiful table settings for family meals. Make it special. Decorate your table so that your kids ask what is going on. Tell them to sit a bit straighter and use their manners. Then laugh with them as you recount summer memories.

Visit Clock & Corbel to find a selection of napkin rings, napkins, table runners, chargers, and more for your dining room table.

Ends Meet Pottery's Colanders
Brooklyn's skill in pottery has produced a line of beautiful hand-crafted colanders. Ends Meet Pottery has a limited number of one-of-a-kind colanders in the store. Come and get one of these amazing bowls before they are gone.

Recipe of the Month:
Off the cob Elotes
Elotes are Mexican street corn, typically served on the cob. This recipe takes the grilled and charred corn off the cob and mixes it with a chipotle aioli to create a street corn salad that is a fabulous late summer back yard side dish.

Ingredients:
For the Chipotle Mayo:
1/2 cup mayonnaise
2 tablespoons sour cream or Mexican crema, or more to taste
2-3 chipotle peppers in adobo sauce
Juice from 1/2 small lime, or to taste
Pinch of salt, if desired until it zings

For the Corn:
4 ears of fresh corn, husked
Olive oil
Salt
¼ cup Cotija cheese
Ancho chile powder, optional
¼ cup fresh cilantro, chopped

Directions:
1. Make the Chipotle Mayo. Add the mayo, sour cream, chipotle peppers, lime juice, and salt to a food processor or blender. Process until smooth. Taste and add lime juice and/or salt to your personal preferences. Add enough salt so that the mayo zings. Cover and set aside. Put in the refrigerator if serving later.

2. Lightly coat the corn with olive oil and sprinkle with salt. Prepare a gas or charcoal grill for medium heat, or pre-heat a cast iron skillet on the stove.

3. On the grill over direct heat, or in the skillet on the stove, grill the corn, turning occasionally, until the corn turns a deeper, brighter yellow and chars all over. Some of the corn will pop. If the skillet is too small, cook the corn in batches. When cooked, set aside to cool.

4. When the corn can be handled without burning your fingers, cut the kernels off the cob and place in a cast iron skillet on the grill or stove. Pour in the chipotle mayo. Heat the mixture until well combined and hot. Scrape the corn mixture into a serving bowl. Sprinkle with Cotija cheese, chili powder, and cilantro. Serve.

Add to the beauty of your home by building your own bouquet of fresh flowers in a vase from Ends Meet Pottery. Place your fresh flowers on your deck table as you serve a late summer side of Mexican street corn on your new place settings from Clock & Corbel!

Blessings,

Wendy
