The Epoxy Barn is operated in the foothills of the Blue Ridge mountains in the small town of Dobson, North Carolina. Below are a few frequently asked questions. Do not hesitate to message us with any question not addressed here.
WHY THE EPOXY BARN? It’s all about quality, durability, and individuality. Our epoxy resin is one of the best and most durable solvents out there. It will stand the tests of time. Your item will never age or show wear and tear and will remain shiny and illustrious for generations. Additionally, it is tough! When you receive a larger piece from us, you can feel confident that you are buying a quality, one-of-a-kind product. Our flags and seascapes are large and sometimes heavy. When an inevitable accident happens- you drop it or falls off the wall, your product should not break or come apart. BEWARE of fakes! More about this below.
PRICING: We only use premium epoxy resins and its not cheap. A gallon of resin costs us on average around $75. There are cheaper resins out there, but we have found that those do not meet the quality standards our business requires. You truly get what you pay for regarding resins. The next component is time. Many do not realize that our coasters take days to make, some requiring up to four to five layers.
OUR FLAGS: Our thin line flags take at minimum ten hours of hands-on labor each and about a week, due to cure times, to cut, assemble, paint, and make. No power tools are ever used here. Each flag is made and painted by hand. We are the ONLY business that offers flags like we do- individually colored and poured stars that are then hand placed. Additionally, each flag is flooded with two coatings of premium epoxy. We encourage our customers to visit to other sites and search for epoxy resin flags, like Etsy, to look at what’s offered there. You will see the same versions that have been manufactured by machines and have 2-D stars cut by a laser edger. You will see wooden flags marketed as epoxy resin flags that have been lightly brushed with varnish. These flags are smaller than ours offered here and often at a higher cost. Buying a flag from us, you can rest assured that a lot of personal attention has been put into your flag. Your flag will be unique. We may make many flags, but no flag is exactly the same. We offer many variations of thin line flags and can customize yours. Message us for more information.
BEWARE OF FAKES: Many sites like eBay, Amazon, and Etsy all market epoxy resin merchandise. However, if an item appears flawless without imperfections, beware. These sites have been flooded with wholesalers that sell manufactured items. Epoxy Resin products without imperfections are usually fakes that are plastic with either a varnish coating or a thin membrane layer of resin on the exterior. You can also tell the difference because counterfeits are much lighter than pure epoxy resin items. Also, beware if items are identical. Epoxy resin items never turn out exactly the same and identical items are probably manufactured counterfeits. Lastly, the price. If an item is priced cheaper than ours you may not be getting a pure epoxy resin product.
