Are you ready? Because I am.

Yes, I know I’ve been showing a lot of the same pictures and older work lately. There’s a reason for that.

Depression got ahold of me for about four months, and for a while, creating was one of the things that fell away. But I’m finally finding my way back to it, getting my hands dirty again, and getting excited about what’s coming next.

So give me a little time. I’m waking the algorithms back up, reminding everybody I’m still here, and getting everything moving again.

You’re about to start seeing a whole lot of new work.

Pottery, of course, but Leatherwood is growing into more than that too. You’ll be seeing watercolor paintings from my mom, and I’ll be sharing some videos of her working as well.

You’ll also be seeing traditional Cherokee Nation feather work, including feather fans and hairpieces, along with the other handmade pieces we’re creating here at Leatherwood.

New pottery. New paintings. New feather work. New ideas. And probably a little chaos along the way, because apparently that’s part of my process.

I’m getting back to myself, and I’m ready to get going again.

This year taught me the biggest lesson. Let it go. Move forward. Stop chasing closure. Choose your happiness. That’s where peace lives.

My mind keeps me safe. My heart keeps me alive.

One plans, analyzes, questions, prepares, and tries to stay ten steps ahead. The other creates, feels everything deeply, trusts her gut, loves fiercely, and would rather be barefoot by the water making something with her hands.

For a long time, I thought one of them had to win.

Turns out, I need them both.

The overthinker and the dreamer.
The protector and the creator.
The “what if?” and the “why not?”

Different roles. Same soul.

Both of me are real. And somewhere between the two, I think I’m finally figuring out what peace actually looks like.

Life isn’t really about what you can get next. It’s about learning to enjoy what you already have—the quiet mornings, the people you love, the view outside your window, and the little things that make an ordinary day feel like a good one.

Maybe that’s part of why I love pottery so much. You take a lump of clay, slow down for a minute, and make something with your own two hands. Nothing fancy. Just something useful, imperfect, and made to be enjoyed.

Sometimes a simple life is a pretty damn good life.
