Heather Marshall Art Upcycled Vintage Paper Art Feather Lettering is a beautiful, funky marriage between modern paper products and vintage preservation. I found calligraphy.

The past has always been a part of my life. I grew up in a 100-year-old house surrounded by antiques, with artistic parents who loved the designs of past decades. A creative person myself, I’d always dreamed of being a writer. When my author career ended in heartbreak, I desperately searched for a new creative outlet. I was inspired to start lettering on vintage paper after flipping through crumbling books in an antique store. Growing sad thinking about old paper being forgotten in an attic, rotting away, or (horrors!) tossed in the trash, I impulsively decided to letter on some pages. The reaction from early viewers was immediate and strong, and Feather Lettering was born. My pieces are for people who love a vintage feel and embrace the aesthetic of the past, but don’t want a dusty look. I create eclectic art and related items that inspire others to seek out and appreciate the past while decorating in the present. I want my customers to be as bold and unique as my designs.

Hello! Just wanted to let everyone know I'm doing great! Healing, starting meds, and waiting for the next surgery.

Also wanted to show you what I've been doing during this medical hiatus. It's not all that exciting, but now that I don't have prepping-the-child-for-college on my to-do list, I have much more time to allow myself to get back to work. To creating!

Puzzles, reading, concerts and ball games, seeing friends, unwittingly adopting a porch goose with questionable attire (wth??), among other things. 😊

I'm so sorry, but I have to cancel the rest of my 2026 art shows.

I've always known breast cancer would come for me, and I guess that time is now. It is very early, very small, and highly treatable. The doctors and I are extremely positive about the future!

I have chosen to have surgery and reconstruction, and I think taking the rest of the year off from shows to heal is the right decision.

I still have so many completed pieces to show you! And many, many more in my brain to get into a frame.

I'm not disappearing! I just need to figure out if I can temporarily translate my in-person art business into something online.

Behold! The animals who came into my tent on the second day of the Lincoln Roscoe Art Fair! (Note I said "animals" hehe)

Turned out to be an excellent show...sales a little over last year's, perfect weather, lots of fun interactions. Sold some of my fav pieces to boot. Love you, Chicago. See you again in June for Wells Street!

Day 2 of the Cherokee Triangle Art Fair. God, I love this event. I love this neighborhood. I love the atmosphere and energy to the start of another year of sharing the crazy visuals in my brain.

Day 1 broke my sales from Saturday of last year! Let's goooooo Louisville!

Also, I don't know how to pack for trips and I'm wearing the same sweatshirt as yesterday while stacks of unworn clothes remain in my suitcase.

Also also, I think about how much I could've saved on perms in the 90s if I'd learned how to embrace the wavy frizz.
