Barry Martin Jr took a raw slab of black walnut and created TWO end grain boards that are stunning! 12"x11"x1.5" $75 each
End grain cutting boards require more time and work than edge grain or face grain but they are worth the investment.
End grain boards are gentler on knife edges, highly resistant to deep knife scars, increased durability and are more hygienic. They are more durable because they are less prone to splintering and chopping. They are more hygienic for the small reason - no deep grooves from your knife means less places for food particles to get trapped!
They are heavier than other cutting boards because of the way they are constructed so Barry made two at a smaller size with feet and beveled edges to combat the heavy weight of tradition end grain boards.
Each black walnut end grain board is 12"x11"x1.5" which makes them lighter weight and will fit easily into your sink for cleaning as well as easier to store than larger boards.
