In 2005, I made my first signs on scrap wood - Texas flags for friends and family. I wouldn't know it for awhile, but the seed of Deena's Designs had been planted. In 2009, I started making a lot of signs for friends and family. It was my hobby and my stress reliever. In 2011, after a few years of developing my skills, DD was made official. Fast forward to 2021 and it's safe to say I have personally painted over 15 thousand signs. 15 THOUSAND! That lil' statistic blows my mind! Since 2011, I have shipped to all 50 states and 12 countries spread across 5 continents. (I haven't crossed Africa out as a possibility, but I think Antarctica might be a hard sale!) If you've purchased one of my signs over the years, first of all THANK YOU, but more importantly, know that I cared while I made your sign. Each order was more than a sale, it has been a blessing.

I am now 10 years into the DD journey and am so excited to announce that I am expanding into the world of sublimation printing. Because the process of sublimation infuses the ink into the item, it is permanent and completely smooth to the touch. You won't be able to feel any edges around the design because the design will actually become a part of the item. It will not peel, crack, fade or wash away - - how cool is that?!

Deena's Designs original designs, familiar to many, will now be available on many new items with all new color schemes. There will also be many new, sublimation-only designs that will take DD and Honoring Our Everyday Heroes to a whole new level. From key chains that fit in your pocket to aluminum photo panels that hang on the wall, we have you covered! There will be options for organizations, businesses, schools, and individuals. So many great things are headed your way!

But don't worry - I am not tossing my paint brushes! Painted signs will always be available. However, I admit, I can barely contain my excitement to see where this new leg of the journey leads! I'll be rolling out new designs and adding new listings to the shop over the next few weeks. I may even give away a new item or 2. If you have any questions about what may be available, please send me a message.

Since 2011, you have come to know Deena's Designs for excellent customer service and high quality products. Going forward, that remains the same. The difference now is there will be many more quality product options! Thank you all for a fantastic first decade! Let's make the next one even better!

Like a thief in the night, daylight saving time just stole an hour of sleep from us all. (A few lucky states are immune to this annual torture) National Napping Day was created 21 years ago to spread awareness about not getting enough sleep and the benefits of regular napping.

There are 3 types of napping:

1) Planned Napping - when a person plans a nap before they get sleepy
2) Emergency Napping - when a person is suddenly very tired and NEEDS a nap
3) Habitual Napping - when a person takes a nap at the same time each day.

My dad is a #3. My sister is a #1. My mom mastered the 7 minute power nap decades ago. I don't particularly like to nap, but until I adjust, I'll be a #2.

Where do you fall on Spring Forward? Like it or loathe it? Are you a 1,2 or 3?

Wherever you fall on the subject, if you get the chance, take a nap today. Let's all do our part to get that stolen hour back!

"It was on March 13, 1942, that the Army began training for its new War Dog Program, also known as the "K-9 Corps," according to American Humane, marking the first time that dogs were officially a part of the U.S. Armed Forces."

I read somewhere it was National Grammar Day. In the sign making game, grammar is very important! Nobody wants a sign w/ a grammar error and nobody wants to make a sign w/ a mistake either. I was raised by an English teacher. Who was MY teacher in two different grades! Thanks to her, I think I have a pretty good grasp on grammar. But since I am one of those imperfect humans, I have made a few bone headed mistakes over the years.

Fun fact: Several years ago I was making a 3'x6' sign for my cousin's son's college graduation. The night before it was to be delivered I found a misspelled word and just about had a heart attack. You don't just erase a mistake on a 3-foot by 6-foot piece of painted wood!! At the time, it put my world in a tailspin while I worked through the night making it right. In the end, the sign was delivered w/ smiles all around.

If you're wondering what word I misspelled - a word I will never forget and one that was missed by 5 different sets of eyes who were shown proofs before the painting started - it was "mistakes". I spelled it "mitstakes". I learned then that you cannot proofread your work too many times!

I haven't had many signs I had to remake due to an error on my part, but it has happened over the years. To the customers who were inconvenienced, you still have my apologies that you had to wait for me to get it right. Trust me, it probably upset me more than it did you.

So y'all go out there and have yourselves a fantastic National Grammar Day! Don't worry if you make a mitstake along the way, they can be fixed!

If you're a Texas Aggie - Whoop! - this sign needs no introduction! If you're not - I'm so sorry! "Howdy" is the official greeting at Texas A&M and a pretty popular greeting in the rest of Texas too.

Painted on an 1/8" thick laser cut MDF plaque that is permanently attached to a 5.5"x 5.5"x .75" block of solid pine - that has been hand painted, distressed and stained - this sign will add a little good bull to any room or office. The block color can be changed, but all Fightin' Texas Aggies know that there's no such thing as too much maroon! These beauties ship with no shipping charges! Supplies are limited, so be sure you snag these up before they are gone! These will free-stand on a desk or shelf so they will be shipped without a saw-tooth hanger. If you plan to hang yours, please let me know at the time of purchase and I will attach a hanger for you before shipping (no charge!).
