Today we are wearing hats to support the mental health day.
Wearing hats for Mental Health Day is usually tied to a specific meaning.
Since hats are usually against dress code, breaking that rule makes people ask "why is everyone wearing a hat today?" That question opens the door to talk about mental health. The money raised goes to mental health programs or charities.
A hat can represent what goes on "in your head." Wearing one draws attention to mental health the same way a pink ribbon does for breast cancer. Itβs a low-barrier way for people to show solidarity. Colleagues, classmates, and strangers see the hats and are reminded that mental health matters and that itβs okay to not be okay.
Note: The hat itself doesnβt heal anything. The meaning is in the conversation it starts.
