Resale of vintage & Mid Century Modern relics & some interesting facts along the way! Here's a little bit about me, my journey and how the shop came about. I'm a newly married gal in her "middle-upper" 30s and I work full time in the Chemical Manufacturing Industry. It has taken most of those 30-something years on earth and an embar
rassingly high number of bad life choices for me to realize that I suffered from poor mental health and tried to self-medicate to the point of becoming a not so functional alcoholic. Around the time I met my now husband, Chris, I decided it was high time to get with the GYST (get your "stuff" together). I prioritized my mental health and at the age of 36 I was diagnosed with ADHD. This absolutely changed everything about my life; FINALLY being on the proper medication, I no longer needed to whiskey medicate. I gave up my seat at the bar and along with some (ok, it was way more than "some") encouragement from Chris, I reprioritized to have a God centered, sober remaining second half of this journey through life. Hopefully my liver hangs on for the ride! :)
So now that I'm not drinking, I've got A LOT of idle time and knew I needed to fill that dead time with something fun, otherwise it wasn't going to give my ADHD brain the dopamine it needed to keep me from drinking the days away. Flashback to the early 90s and I could be found going to garage/yard sales with my Grandma on Saturday mornings. I was bound and determined I would find the perfect "treasure" that would land me my 15 minutes of fame on the PBS masterpiece, "The Antiques Roadshow". Spoiler Alert: I've never been on the show, YET and I still watch it online to this day. Ok, back to modern times...While Chris and I were looking for our forever home, we rented an incredibly charming 100 year old+ farm house that just to happened to come with a mini donkey, Daisy. She and I instantly bonded and when I was having a hard day, it could all be solved by about 30 minutes of shenanigans with Daisy. We have since purchased our forever home and making it mini donk ready, so hopefully I'll have a couple donks of my own soon. I still love a good estate sale and treasure hunt at the thrift store for those "Antiques Roadshow" worthy vintage finds, but I can't keep them all. Instead, I'm sharing them with y'all so I can pay for donkey treats and a barn. Don't worry, Daisy only lives about 10 miles away, so I still get to visit her. And who doesn't love a good pun. Since burro is another name for a donkey, Burro'd Treasure was born as a play on Buried Treasure. Thanks for reading and don't be afraid to ask for help when you need it!! It's never too late. Much Love,
Stacey
